2023 Jeep Comanche: Unibody Pickup on the Way?

Along with the growth of the pickup segment, a whole new sub-segment was born. We are talking about the class of smaller-size, unibody pickups, something that has the potential to become more than just a niche. The two models of this kind were already launched in North America – Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. Therefore, it’s no wonder that rumors suggest that Jeep could make the same move. Allegedly, the company will bring back the familiar nameplate and offer a brand-new 2023 Jeep Comanche.

At this point, the officials are still quiet, so you should take the following paragraphs with a reserve. From what we can presume, the new Comanche would come with a unibody layout, based on the company’s smaller architecture, probably the one that underpins the Renegade. The small subcompact crossover could also serve as an inspiration for the exterior design, and it may even borrow the powertrain.

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Jeep Comanche would come as a unibody pickup. The thing you should know is that this wouldn’t be the first time to see Jeep with such an approach. The old Comanche, which was offered back in the ‘80s was also based on a unibody platform, on Jeep Cherokee. Still, the latest reports suggest that the new 2023 Jeep Comanche would rather ride on something smaller.

The smaller means a design based on Jeep Renegade, according to the unofficial reports. We would see the same layout and the subcompact crossover would also serve as an inspiration for the exterior design. We would see the same front-end design, while the rest of the body would come in a typical pickup manner. Of course, the wheelbase would be extended, in order to accommodate a decently-sized cargo bed.

Interior

When it comes to the interior design, we presume that the dashboard would feature the same layout as the one in Renegade. This means a relatively simplistic design, but packed with all kinds of tech features. Also, it is pretty much for sure that the new 2023 Jeep Comanche would come in a double cab layout, though some sources speculate about the single cab version, which would be perfect for commercial purposes.

As we’ve just mentioned, the cabin should come fully loaded with tech features. Keep in mind that the Renegade is about to receive a mid-cycle update for the next year, which would include a new infotainment system with a bigger screen and many other goodies. So, the 2023 Jeep Comanche should come with all of them as well.

When it comes to the powertrain, we presume that the Jeep engineers would stick to proven choices. Therefore, the 1.3-liter turbo-four looks like the most probable option and it would probably come in two output versions, with either 150 or 180 horsepower.

Some sources also speculate about the hybrid version. That model would probably use the Jeep’s new system, the same one that powers Compass and Renegade, which puts out around 240 horsepower. It’s a plug-in hybrid system, so we count on a decent all-electric range as well.

Finally, we might see a diesel version in some parts of the world. That model would probably come with the company’s familiar 1.6-liter turbodiesel.

2023 Jeep Comanche Release Date and Price

If can trust rumors, the 2023 Jeep Comanche could arrive already in the next year. However, the officials are still quiet and the actual chances to see this pickup are still questionable. If it arrives, we presume that the company would tend to offer it at a competitive price, which means that base versions shouldn’t go over 20.000 dollars.

  1. I hope Jeep does build a small Truck and call it the Comanche! I hope they build it with a single cab option. I would love to have a small truck again. I’m tired of companies just building crew cabs.
