2023 Jeep Cherokee Redesign: What We Know So Far

If we consider that the current generation of Jeep’s compact SUV has been around since 2014, we can say that it’s just a matter of time when the next generation will come. At this point, the company is busy with the next generations of Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer models but soon after, we should expect to see the new iteration of the legendary compact SUV. According to the latest reports, the new model could come already as the 2023 Jeep Cherokee, but keep in mind that the officials are still quiet.

Therefore, it’s hard to talk about details. The only we can do at this point is to speculate and evaluate all kinds of rumors that can be found on the network. Of course, we count on a completely new layout, with new exterior and interior designs, but we could also see a lot of interesting novelties regarding the powertrain, including various forms of electrification.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. If we consider that Jeep is now part of a much larger automotive group, many options are in the game. One of them is certainly a familiar Giorgio platform, which already underprints the Grand Cherokee. With this platform, the new generation would get way better driving characteristics but also an RWD layout.

The other possibility is to use a platform from new members of the family, the PSA group. If that happens, we presume that the new 2023 Jeep Cherokee would share most of its parts with models like Peugeot 3008, which seems like a perfect fit for the parts sharing. This would bring an additional dose of refinement, as well as the possibility to install a new plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrain options.

Exterior

When it comes to exterior design, we don’t expect revolutionary changes. The overall size and proportions should remain largely the same as in the current generation, with minor differences. The same goes for the styling. We will certainly see a new look, but aesthetical changes should be evolutionary. We count on familiar vertical bars on the grille and a lot of inspiration taken from the new Grand Cherokee.

Interior

On the other hand, the interior should bring significant improvements. The current generation looks a little bit outdated compared to most rivals. The dashboard doesn’t look modern, while materials aren’t particularly impressive. That’s why the 2023 Jeep Cherokee redesign should bring a way better cabin design, with much nicer materials and better build quality. Of course, we also expect to see a lot of new tech features, whether it’s about infotainment or new safety systems.

We don’t expect that the new model will be much more generous with passenger space. On the other side, we would definitely like to see more cargo room, considering that the current model features one of the smallest areas in the segment.

2023 Jeep Cherokee Engines

This is definitely one of the most interesting aspects of the next-generation Grand Cherokee. The current generation is available in three engine options and some of these, such as the turbo-four, will probably carry on. On the other side, we count on massive electrification. A plug-in hybrid version is almost a certain thing, while an all-electric variant is also possible.

If the new 2023 Jeep Cherokee is about to share the platform with PSA models, then there is a big chance to see a familiar plug-in hybrid setup under the hood. It’s a system that combines a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine with electric motors and comes in two variants, with 225 and 300 horsepower.

2023 Jeep Cherokee Release Date and Price

The next-generation 2023 Jeep Cherokee could come in a year or two but it’s hard to say anything more precise, as the officials are still quiet. We estimate the base price of around 27.000 dollars.

For Timothy, FCA is a perfect match.
