Jeep engineers have been busy in the last few years with many things. The Wagoneer was revived, and the Grand Cherokee received a complete overhaul. Now it’s time to take care of other models from the lineup and the next one in the line is Cherokee. The current generation has been around since 2014 and it looks like the new version will come in the next year, as the 2024 Jeep Cherokee. At this point, the officials still tend to keep most details a secret but we know for sure that the new generation will bring some pretty important changes.
Of course, one of the biggest novelties will be the new platform, which will probably debut with this model. Furthermore, we will see new powertrain options, new designs, a new interior layout and many more things. The all-new 2024 Jeep Cherokee will continue to represent Jeep in the compact SUV segment and we expect that the new model will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2024.
2024 Jeep Cherokee Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, this redesign is about to bring a lot of changes and the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. According to the latest reports, the 2024 Jeep Cherokee will be the first model to ride on the company’s new architecture called STLA Large. From what we know so far, this won’t be a completely new platform, but rather a modified version of the Giorgio platform, which underpins the new Grand Cherokee, along with Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia.
However, this will be an FWD platform, reports say, unlike Giorgio, which is an RWD-based architecture. In any case, we have no doubt that the new Cherokee will benefit in many ways. It should be notably lighter and we have no doubt it will feature way better handling and overall performance.
Exterior and Interior
When it comes to the exterior design, we don’t expect bigger changes regarding the overall layout. The wheelbase might be stretched for a bit but the overall size probably won’t change all that much. What is going to change is the styling. We don’t expect to see anything radical, but rather an evolutionary design approach, with a lot of inspiration taken from the new Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer models.
On the other hand, the cabin design should bring significant improvements, considering that the current one looks a little bit outdated. We count on more attractive aesthetics, new materials and way more tech features. Also, we would like to see a little bit more cargo space in the new model.
2024 Jeep Cherokee Engines
The current model comes with two powertrain options and one of them will definitely be dropped once the new generation arrives. Of course, we are talking about a good-old 3.2-liter V6, which puts out around 271 horsepower. On the other hand, the 2.0-liter turbo-four will probably carry on without bigger changes, with the same or slightly increased max output, which currently goes around 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
One of the biggest changes we expect to see is a new transmission. The current 9-speed unit doesn’t impress at all, so we won’t be surprised we see something completely new, maybe even some unit from ZF or Aisin.
We also count on electrification, so the first thing that comes to mind is a plug-in hybrid. An all-electric version could come one day as well.
2024 Jeep Cherokee Release Date and Price
At this point, the best we can say is that we believe that the 2024 Jeep Cherokee could arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. The current model starts at around 30.000 dollars and we don’t expect to see a significant increase for the next generation.

Hope they drop that sting ray gray color and keep the large screen in dash display. Not having a V6 will be a problem. Especially when traveling up hill with passengers. The oversize sun roof is a waste and the stop engine at signals is ridiculous. I have owned 3 cherokees and have enjoyed all of them for the most part. But there can always be inprovements.Let’s hope above all that they can continue to be the most USA made car available!!!!
I like Trailhawk V6 with enough torque. Leg space in front should be more generous and layout ergonomic. PTU must be reliable. Give me red and black color and I will take it again.
