It’s no secret that the legendary name is coming back, but we are constantly getting updates on the features and characteristics we may expect from it. Therefore, the following paragraphs are all about what we know and what we expect from the 2021 Jeep Wagoneer.
The famous model is about to come back after decades of hiatus and it will be a new flagship model in the brand’s lineup, along with its stretched version, which is about to come as Grand Wagoneer. The thing you need to know is that this will be a genuine SUV, which rides on a conventional body-on-frame platform. It will be a full-size SUV, which will compete with models like Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia etc.
The new 2021 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models have been spotted on the road and the latest reports suggest we should see them in the second half of the year.
2021 Jeep Wagoneer Design
Most things we know about the 2021 Jeep Wagoneer are about the base design. The first thing we should mention is the platform. As we’ve just mentioned, the new model will ride on the same platform as the new generation of Ram 1500. The two models should share a lot of things, including pretty much complete mechanics. Additionally, the Wagoneer is about to come with additional interesting features, such as independent rear suspension, which has become a kind of segment standards these days. Still, we don’t know if this is going to be a standard or optional feature.
When it comes to dimensions, we count on a typical size for the segment. This means that the wheelbase should go around 120 inches, while the overall length should roughly go somewhere between 200 and 210 inches. On the other side, it is still early to talk about more precise proportions, about things like width, height, curb weight etc.
When it comes to the styling, the latest reports suggest that the new Wagoneer will be characterized by a pretty distinctive styling. It won’t look too similar to the rest of the lineup, rumors say. Still, we can’t talk about details at the moment. The testing model has been spotted on the road, but it still wears a complete camouflage, so we can talk about the overall shape only, which is expected to come in a typical wagon manner. On the other side, the front end should be characterized by recognizable vertical bars, while the rest should come in a pretty conventional manner, most similar to the Grand Cherokee, which is also about to receive a complete redesign in the next year.
There is even a possibility to see a kind of 2021 Jeep Wagoneer Concept first, before the launch, which would show how the new model will look like. However, this is just a rumor and take it with a big reserve.
2021 Jeep Wagoneer Interior
The interior is also a big mystery at the moment. So far, we have only seen a completely camouflaged exterior of the new 2021 Jeep Wagoneer, while the company still keeps the cabin as secret. Therefore, there’s no use of speculating about dashboard design and similar things. On the other side, we have no doubt that the new model, as a flagship SUV, will come with a full load of features.
This includes loads of tech features as well and you probably know that the new generation of the excellent Uconnect infotainment system is about to debut in the facelifted Durango. Also, we have no doubt that the large 12-inch touchscreen from Ram 1500 will find a place in this SUV, at least as an option. Of course, we also count on lots of safety features, while three rows of seats will definitely be standard.
When it comes to the powertrain, expect pretty much the same lineup as in the new Ram 1500. This means two well-known gasoline units in the offer. Base versions will come with a 305-hp 3.6-liter V6, while the higher trims will come with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, which is good for about 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both engines should be available with the company’s new mild-hybrid system called eTorque, just like it’s the case with a new pickup truck.
We might see a diesel version as well. Of course, that would be a new version of the well-known 3.0-liter turbodiesel, which comes from VM Motori, which is good for about 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
2021 Jeep Wagoneer Release Date and Price
When it comes to the 2021 Jeep Wagoneer release date, we presume the new model will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year. However, a more precise date of launch is still a mystery.
On the other side, we may predict the base 2021 Jeep Wagoneer price, which will probably go around 45.000 dollars, roughly.
