The 2021 model has just been presented and it brings a lot of interesting novelties. As you probably know, they are mostly about new powertrain options, as there is a new plug-in hybrid version, as well as a familiar V8 engine, that has been added to the lineup. After such important updates, it’s hard to expect anything more significant for the 2022 Jeep Wrangler, or maybe not? Some sources suggest that the next year would also bring novelties but this time in terms of aesthetics and similar things.
On the other side, the overall layout will certainly remain the same. You may count on the same design, which hasn’t significantly changed for decades. The next year’s model will carry on with the same engines in the offer and in two familiar body styles. Of course, there is always a chance to see some additions in terms of standard equipment, but keep in mind that the current model already stands pretty good in this aspect. We expect to see it sometime in the second half of next year.
2022 Jeep Wrangler Design
As we just mentioned, base design characteristics definitely won’t change. We are about to see a familiar design, though 2022 Jeep Wrangler changes could bring a couple of tweaks in terms of the styling. This primarily refers to things like new color options, wheels and similar things. On the other side, the overall styling hasn’t changed too much for decades, so we don’t expect such a trend will change in the future either.
Of course, you may count on two familiar body styles. The base short-wheelbase model comes with two doors, while the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will continue with four doors and a significantly stretched wheelbase, which puts it pretty much in the segment of mid-size SUVs, where you can find models like the Toyota 4Runner. Still, the recently revived Ford Bronco is by far the biggest rival.
Interior
We could see new 2022 Jeep Wrangler color options on the inside as well. However, most of the cabin will certainly remain the same. The dashboard looks attractive and really modern but keeps a lot of that retro vibe, just like the interior. Everything looks upscale, despite that most materials are rather durable than refined. Also, the list of standard and available equipment is pretty long, which makes the cabin look even better.
The standard 2-door model features just 96.8 inches in wheelbase, so it’s not hard to conclude that the amount of space isn’t particularly great on the inside. On the other side, the Unlimited offers way over 118 inches between the axles, so it’s no wonder that both rows are very generous with legroom, while the cargo area is also pretty impressive for the class.
Features
Novelties in this aspect are always possible, but we don’t expect that too many changes will happen in this aspect, considering that the current version is already pretty good in this aspect. It comes standard with things like push-button start, a removable soft top with sunroof, three 12V outlets, a 5-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker audio system, Bluetooth etc. In higher trim levels, you can also get tech goodies like 7- and 8.4-inch touch screens, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, additional USB ports, and navigation. The list of options also includes things like a removable hardtop, a power-folding soft top, a forward-facing off-road camera, power windows and locks, air conditioning, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, and remote start.
2022 Jeep Wrangler Engines
The 2021 model has brought some big novelties under the hood, so we expect that the next year will bring no changes in this aspect. Therefore, base models will continue with a well-known 3.6-liter V6, which delivers around 285 horsepower. Of course, there is also a 2.0-liter turbo-four, with 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The same turbo-four is the basis for the recently-added plug-in hybrid version, which delivers a total output of 375 horsepower. Also, you may count on about 25 miles of the all-electric range. A great thing to know is that the batter is positioned under rear seats, so the 2022 Jeep Wrangler will feature the same ground clearance as the rest of the lineup.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler V8 will come equipped with a well-known 6.4-liter HEMI V8, which is the fastest and most capable version in the offer, which needs just five seconds to hit 60 mph. Finally, there is a turbodiesel version, which uses a familiar 3.0-liter V6 unit.
2022 Jeep Wrangler Release Date and Price
We expect to see the next-year model sometime late in the next year. Base models will go around 30.000 dollars, while four-door models will start around 32.000. The most expensive, 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with the V8 engine should go around 60.000 dollars.
