The Gladiator has been around for a while. It was introduced in 2019 and it looks like we will finally see major changes. The next year’s model is about to see some updates, particularly in terms of the powertrain. Namely, the highly-anticipated 2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe has been officially confirmed and it will come with the same hybrid powertrain as Wrangler. Other than that, some sources also suggest styling changes, although the officials are still quiet on this matter.
All in all, there’s no doubt that these updates are going to bring some notable improvements but the overall layout is about to remain the same. We are about to see the same overall design, which has a lot of great things to offer. The Gladiator is famous for its exceptional off-road capabilities, but it also offers great towing capacity, strong powertrain options and a pretty spacious cabin.
We expect that the 2024 Jeep Gladiator will arrive sometime in the second half of the year.
2024 Jeep Gladiator Will Get Hybrid Powertrain
From what we can see, this will certainly be the biggest novelty for the 2024 Jeep Gladiator. We are about to see a plug-in hybrid version of the pickup, which will use the same system as the Wrangler PHEV. That system is based on a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which comes in pair with an electric motor and a 17-kWh battery pack. The total system output goes around 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, while we also expect around 25 miles of the all-electric range.
The rest of the powertrain lineup will carry on in the same way. So, base models will continue with a good-old 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel puts out around 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
The base gasoline engine is available either with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission, while the turbodiesel comes with an 8-speed automatic only.
2024 Jeep Gladiator Design
As we’ve just mentioned, it is still unclear whether we are about to see some other changes than the new hybrid powertrain. Some sources speculate about the styling changes as well. According to them, we could see a typical facelift, which would bring certain modifications, particularly to the front end. Still, even if these updates happen, we are pretty sure that these changes will be quite subtle and that the overall look won’t change.
On the other hand, the overall layout and mechanics will remain the same, which means that you may count on a range of different models, which all offer great off-road performance. Of course, the Rubicon is the most famous, thanks to a generous amount of off-road features, starting from heavy-duty shock absorbers, locking front and rear differentials, lower gearing, an electronic sway bar disconnect, rock rails, 33-inch off-road tires etc.
Interior
On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger changes to the inside. The overall cabin layout should remain the same and that shouldn’t be an issue, considering that the current model already looks nice in this aspect. It utilizes quite nice materials in a combination with good build quality and a pretty attractive dashboard design. Higher trim levels can come with various tech goodies and look even better.
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator will continue with just one cab style on offer, with the large crew cab layout, which offers plenty of passenger space. Both rows are generous with space and accommodate adults with ease. Behind the cabin, you will find a 5-foot cargo bed, which may not be the longest in the class but can be quite useful.
Features
Novelties in this aspect will certainly come, though we are pretty sure that most things are about to remain the same. Therefore, entry-level models should remain pretty basic, equipped with essentials only. The current base model comes standard with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, an eight-speaker stereo, Bluetooth and three USB ports, air conditioning, push-button start and manual windows and door locks.
Higher trim levels offer numerous upgrades, such as an 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, HD Radio, a removable speaker, a nine-speaker stereo, two additional USB ports, power windows and door locks, automatic climate control, keyless entry and remote start.
When it comes to safety features, a rearview camera will probably remain the only standard feature, while there will also be a long list of options, such as rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams etc.
2024 Jeep Gladiator Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Jeep Gladiator will arrive sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 40.000 dollars. The pricing for the plug-in hybrid will be announced later, while models like Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger will remain key competitors.
