The next year is about to bring a lot of interesting novelties and there is no doubt that the all-new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most anticipated ones. After a full decade, we are about to see a complete overhaul. It is about to bring novelties in various aspects. At this point, the new model is still in the testing phase and the mule has been around for a while. However, most of the details are already knows. From what we know so far, the new model will get bigger. 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Redesign
The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee 2022 is about to bring a whole lot of novelties. One of the first things that come to mind is the platform. Moreover, this will be one of the most significant upgrades compared to the current generation, which features a quite outdated platform. The new architecture will be borrowed directly from Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which offers some pretty impressive driving characteristics.
The biggest benefit from this platform will be a significant improvement in terms of handling and overall agility. That was probably the biggest issue with the outgoing model, which may have a muscular nature but doesn’t deliver the kind of thrill you would expect from such numbers in terms of power.
Exterior
In terms of the exterior design, one of the first things we should mention is the size. Although the exact numbers are still unavailable, the test model looks notably bigger compared to the outgoing model. We expect a couple of more inches in wheelbase, which will definitely bring benefits on the inside. Also, the overhangs seem slightly shorter, which will definitely make the SUV look sportier.
Of course, the testing model still wears a camouflage, so we are eagerly waiting for the new model without it. At this point, we can only enjoy rendering photos, but we hope the premiere will happen soon. In any case, there is no doubt that the new look won’t bring any radical changes. We count on the evolutionary approach and familiar layout. Still, a lot of new details will probably be borrowed from the Grand Wagoneer concept.
Interior
Despite the testing model still wears camouflage, some photos clearly show in which direction the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will go. One of the first things you’ll notice is the addition of a large, tablet-like touchscreen, which will replace most of the physical controls that characterize the current generation. Another thing we can clearly see in the shots is a new center console. Among many new details, we mostly like the new rotary gear selector, which will replace the current, more traditional gear lever.
Another improvement we expect to see is in terms of the room. The longer wheelbase will certainly bring benefits in terms of legroom, but the key novelty in this case is the addition of the third row. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation, be the new generation will most likely come standard with five seats, while the third row will be optional. 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine
One of the things FCA practices these days is the expansion of the engine lineup as much as possible. So, there’s no doubt that the engine lineup will be pretty impressive in this case. Most likely, one of the novelties will be the addition of the new 2.0-liter turbo-four, while the current V will probably remain in the offer only in a version with an eTorque system.
Of course, a plethora of V8 units is about to come as well. The current 5.7-liter unit could easily get a nice power bump. The same thing could happen with the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, with its 6.4-liter engine, but we wouldn’t mind if the output remains the same either. Finally, we count on the monstrous Hellcat version, which puts out 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. Some sources also suggest a comeback of the diesel version.
When Will 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Be Released?
We expect that the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will hit the market sometime in the second half of next year, probably already during the summer. Base models should go around 35.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, some of the key rivals are models like Ford Edge, Chevy Blazer, Hyundai Santa Fe etc.
