The new generation of the legendary SUV is here but only in the ”L” form at the moment. It is a stretched version, which comes standard with three rows of seats. Standard two-row models are expected to arrive sometime in the third quarter of the year and we also count on hi-performance versions of the new SUV, including the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation but this version, just like the Trackhawk, seems like a certain thing.
Of course, this version will come with all kinds of upgrades, not just with a big and powerful V8 engine, but also with things like upgraded suspension, unique styling details etc. More details will come in the near future.
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, we don’t expect significant changes compared to the outgoing model. Of course, this brings us to the well-known 6.4-liter V8, the same that powers the Challenger SRT, which currently puts out around 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. A smaller boost in power is possible but we have no doubt that the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT will keep its naturally-aspirated character. It may not be as powerful as the Hellcat-powered version, but this naturally-aspirated engine has plenty of power and moves this SUV from zero to sixty in just 4.5 seconds. Also, it’s the best-sounding Grand Cherokee you can get.
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, it is still unclear will the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT come only as a five-seater or it will be available in the L iteration too. In any case, it will ride on a new platform, which promises better handling and overall driving characteristics than before. The recently-introduced version features a significantly longer wheelbase, which goes over 121 inches. Still, we expect that the standard model won’t be significantly bigger than the outgoing generation, which means you may expect around 115 inches between the wheels.
In any case, we presume that the 2022 Grand Cherokee SRT will come with a couple of mechanical upgrades, starting from a stiffer suspension setup and upgraded brakes. Naturally, we count on a lot of exclusive styling details, which will follow the model’s hi-performance character. This refers to things like bigger wheels, low-profile tires, unique grille design, bumpers etc.
Interior
A couple of upgrades are possible on the inside as well, though we don’t expect too many of them. Of course, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT will probably come in some unique color schemes, probably in darker colors, but the overall cabin layout shouldn’t be much different. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which looks very attractive and far more mature compared to the previous generation. Materials are fine, while aesthetics are very elegant. Of course, there is also a long list of tech features, starting from a standard 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which should be tweaked for this occasion. We presume that the base 8.4-inch touchscreen will be skipped in this case and that the 2022 Grand Cherokee SRT will come standard with a bigger 10.1-inch unit.
When it comes to interior space, standard models will come with two rows of seats, while we won’t be surprised if we see the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L SRT in the offer as well. This long-wheelbase version would include a third row of seats, a bigger cargo area and would be a real hi-performance family hauler.
Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2022 Grand Cherokee SRT sometime in the third quarter of the year. We presume that the starting price will go somewhere around 72.000 dollars.
