2022 Chrysler Aspen Comeback Rumors and Expectations

The legendary American brand has been dying for years but somehow, it is still alive, barely. Currently, its lineup is extremely small and very outdated, so it’s no wonder that something needs to change in the near future if FCA management doesn’t want to kill the famous badge. Of course, the logical solution would be to see a completely new, SUV model. The brand currently doesn’t have such a vehicle in the lineup. Some sources suggest this could happen already this year, in the form of 2022 Chrysler Aspen.

This is a relatively familiar nameplate, which has been used by Chrysler in the past, also for an SUV. At this point, we can only speculate about possible design characteristics, as there is plenty of room for all kinds of design solutions.

2022 Chrysler Aspen Design

Of course, one of the first things that come to mind is the base design approach. In this aspect, Chrysler could benefit a lot from the recent merger between FCA and PSA groups. If it arrives, the 2022 Chrysler Aspen will most likely be based on PSA technology, particularly in terms of powertrain, electrification etc. We presume that the new SUV would be based on a familiar EMP2 architecture, which underprints several crossovers from Peugeot, including 3008 and 5008 models.

At this point, it’s hard to say how big the new 2022 Chrysler Aspen will be, but there are some rumors that talk about three rows of seats. This leads us to the conclusion it will probably be a mid-size crossover. When it comes to the styling, we expect that Chrysler will introduce a new design language, probably with a lot of inspiration taken from the recently updated Pacifica.

Interior

The inside of the 2022 Chrysler Aspen is still a complete mystery. We’ve just mentioned that the new model will probably come with three rows of seats and that’s practically the only thing we can say. Other than that, we count on a completely new design approach, considering that the current lineup is pretty old. We count on a quite luxurious approach in terms of materials and build quality, while the long list of latest tech goodies seems like a certain thing as well.

All in all, we presume that the new SUV will put Chrysler on the map of premium brands as well. We don’t expect the German kind of luxury, but rather a model that can compete with models from brands like Acura, Buick, Infiniti, Lincoln etc.

2022 Chrysler Aspen Powertrain

This aspect is always interesting when it comes to FCA models. As we already mentioned, the 2022 Chrysler Aspen will probably be relying on PSA’s technology, which promises a lot in terms of electrifications. The EMP2 platform already supports plug-in hybrid powertrains, and Peugeot already offers to systems, with 225 and 300 horsepower.

2022 Chrysler Aspen release Date

When it comes to pure gasoline, PSA doesn’t have too many engines that may seem interesting to North American drivers. Practically, a 1.6-liter turbo-four is the only one that comes to mind. So, Chrylser may utilize some additional powertrain options from FCA’s portfolio. This will largely depend on the model’s size, as it’s hard to expect a V8 engine in a compact crossover, for example.

2022 Chrysler Aspen Release Date and Price

We could see 2022 Chrysler Aspen already this year, though the next one sounds more likely. The price would largely depend on the size and engine offer but if we take that the new model will be a mid-size SUV, 40.000 for the base version sound quite likely.

Timothy

Timothy has been an FCA enthusiast way before the two major companies merged. With an innate passion for muscle cars from the golden era, Ram trucks and anything that has a huge engine under the hood, it’s not hard to presume that Timothy is a true motorhead. On the other side, classic Italian sports cars have always had a special place in his heart, as a sense of style and sophistication is an integral part of his persona. For Timothy, FCA is a perfect match.
