The number of great compact crossovers on the market is pretty big these days. This is arguably the most competitive segment of the automotive industry, so it’s no wonder that every manufacturer is trying to find its way to stand out. With Jeep, things are pretty clear. It’s mostly about off-road performances, but it would be foolish to think that’s the only good thing about these machines. The 2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus is a perfect example.
The thing with this particular version is that you get a lot of things for the price you pay. At this price range, most rivals don’t have such a variety of engines in the offer. Also, keep in mind the pretty long list of standard equipment, which even includes some luxury touches, such as simulated leather upholstery. All in all, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus is a more than reasonable choice, if you’re looking for a capable and well-equipped compact crossover.
2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus Specs
Let’s start with the most basic things about this crossover. First of all, the base design characteristics are the same as in any other version of Cherokee. You may count on a familiar design, which dates from 2014, but which has been updated a couple of years ago and now looks much better.
As we already mentioned, this model offers great off-road performances, mostly thanks to great suspension setup. Logically, such setup won’t provide you with impressive handling on the road. So, if that’s your main concern, you should look somewhere else. In terms of the styling, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus doesn’t come with any particular difference compared to the base Latitude model.
This is where 2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus really shines. Although just one step above the base model, this version offers a quite long list of standard features. Like the base Cherokee, it comes with a long list of tech goodies, which includes a 7-inch touchscreen and an excellent Uconnect infotainment system. Also, there are things like 17-inch wheels, automatic LED headlights, 60/40-split-folding rear seatback, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, two USB ports, 6-speaker audio system etc.
This looks nice already, but the 2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus comes with numerous upgrades. Some of the things that come to mind first are simulated leather upholstery, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. In terms of tech goodies, you may count on additional USB ports, as well as on satellite radio.
Safety is where you get a lot of upgrades with this trim level. Some of the highlights are things like a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors.
Besides standard features, there are also various options you can get. A household power outlet, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate and auto-dimming rearview mirror are some of the things that come to mind. You can also get a nine-speaker audio system, as well as a panoramic sunroof.
2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus Engines
A great thing about the 2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus is that you can pick any of three engines that are in the offer for this crossover. Base models are equipped with a familiar 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit, which is good for about 180 horsepower. It definitely won’t provide you with great driving dynamics, but you may count on pretty decent mpg ratings, which go around 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
The optional V6 is a much better choice, as it delivers around 271 horsepower. Still, keep in mind the fuel economy, which goes around 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Finally, there is a new turbo-four with around 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which is by far the best choice for this crossover. On one side, it provides much better driving dynamics compared to the V6, due to much more torque. On the other side, 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway are ratings that are even higher compared to the underpowered base engine.
All engines come with a nice-working 9-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus Pricing
One of the things we like about the 2020 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus is the affordable price. Considering all the features you get, the starting price of 27.300 dollars seems pretty attractive. Of course, it can go higher if you pick some of the two optional engines and some of the optional packages.
For example, the V6 model would cost you additional 1.750 dollars, while the efficient and powerful turbo-four costs an additional 2.250 dollars. If you prefer AWD layout, be ready to pay 1.500 dollars for it. A panoramic roof sees quite expensive, as it would cost you around 1.600 dollars. Other options are much more affordable.
