Jeep Shortcut Concept Might Become Production Model!?

In today’s automotive world where SUVs dominate the market, it looks like there are never enough models of this kind. That’s why the production version of the Jeep Shortcut Concept seems more likely than ever. To remember you, this concept was presented four years ago. It is based on the previous generation of the iconic SUV, but there is no doubt that the same approach would be used for the new model as well, just based on the current generation.

At this point, this is still just pure speculation and the officials are quiet about this model. Therefore, we will just consider the possibilities for the possible production version, but make sure to take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.

Jeep Shortcut Concept Design

If we look at the Jeep Shortcut Concept, it’s clear that all modifications were made in order to make off-road performances the best possible. This concept was based on a 2-door version of the famous SUV and we have no doubt that the new version would come in the same layout. Does this mean the exact approach, it’s hard to say but this would definitely be some kind of a downsized Wrangler. It seems perfectly fine, especially if we consider that the “baby” Bronco is on the way as well.

If you’re not familiar with the modifications that have been made on the Jeep Shortcut Concept, the first thing that comes to mind is the size. This concept is two feet shorter compared to the production version. However, the wheelbase remained the same, so it’s not hard to conclude that overhangs were cut significantly. Even the front bumper was completely revised in order to provide the best possible approach angle. All in all, we presume that the potential production version would come with similar characteristics, but based on the current generation of the legendary SUV.

Also, there are various mechanical upgrades, particularly in terms of suspension and wheels. This concept featured 17-inch steel wheels and 35-inch mud-terrain tires. Also, it features Dana 44 front and rear axles and a two-inch lift kit with Fox dampers.

Interior

Surprises on the inside are not expected. If you look at the Jeep Shortcut Concept, it features pretty much the same dashboard design as the previous-generation Wrangler. So it’s not hard to presume that the possible production model would feature the same as the current generation. On the other side, the amount of space would be significantly smaller. Moreover, this particular version would probably come with just one row of seats only.

Jeep Shortcut Concept Engine

Under the hood, the Jeep Shortcut Concept comes with a well-known 3.6-liter V6, in a combination with a five-speed automatic gearbox, just like the standard version. Therefore, it’s not hard to conclude that the potential production version would also feature the same layout as the standard model. In this particular case, that would be a combination of a 3.6-liter V6 and a newer and more modern 9-speed automatic gearbox. Still, we would exclude the possibility to see some additional powertrain options in the offer as well, including a new turbo-four engine.

As we already mentioned, the officials are still quiet on this matter but given the current situation on the market, chances to see this model definitely exist. How big they are, it’s still hard to tell but some sources suggest we could see it already in a year or two. More details should come soon.
