2023 Jeep Renegade Will Get Another Facelift

The Renegade is one of the oldest models among subcompact crossovers. It’s been around since 2014 but it looks like the company doesn’t plan a 2023 Jeep Renegade redesign, as some rumors were suggesting. Instead, it looks like the company wants to extend the production cycle of the current generation and keep it active for a few more years. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing changes. We are about to see another facelift, which will keep this small SUV fresh and competitive for some more time.

At this point, we know that Jeep is testing the new version in South America. The test mule has been spotted and we can see that it wears a lot of camouflage. So, it’s easy to conclude that most of the changes will be in terms of the styling, though we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see some interior updates either. On the other hand, things under the hood should remain the same, even though some sources suggest the possibility of a plug-in hybrid version.

The 2023 Jeep Renegade release date should be scheduled for the second half of 2022.

2023 Jeep Renegade Design

As we’ve just mentioned, this small crossover is about to receive another facelift. The test mule has been spotted in South America and we can see that it wears a lot of camouflage. Therefore, the changes will probably be pretty comprehensive. Of course, most of them should come to the front end but as the camouflage is pretty much all-over the vehicle, there’s no doubt that the novelties are about to come in other areas too.

On the other hand, we don’t expect bigger changes in terms of mechanics. Most of the things will continue to be shared with the Fiat 500X and Jeep Compass. What we particularly like about this SUV is its suspension setup. The ride is pretty comfortable, while certain versions, such as Trailhawk, come with pretty respectable off-road performances. This version comes with an upgraded suspension, higher ground clearance, lower gear ration, skid plates, all-terrain tires, tow hooks etc.

Interior

At this point, it’s hard to make any predictions about the interior design. Still, if we consider that the current version features subpar interior quality, we may presume that the company will try to make this cabin look nicer. Therefore, we might see a few revisions to the dashboard, while we also count on new materials and new color schemes. More tech goodies are possible too.

On the other hand, the overall cabin layout will remain the same, which means that you may count on the same amount of passenger space. Both rows are generous with head and legroom and adults can accommodate with ease. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space with its rear seats upright and 50.8 cubic feet with those seats folded. That’s above-average for the segment.

Features

Naturally, we also expect to see more features in the 2023 Jeep Renegade. Still, keep in mind that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect and features a pretty long list of standard equipment. It comes with a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, six-speaker stereo, remote keyless entry, push-button start, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The potential additions to the list of standard equipment are those features that are currently optional. Those are goodies like an 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, HD Radio, a nine-speaker stereo, and an additional USB port, proximity keyless entry, remote start, and a 120-volt household-style power outlet.

2023 Jeep Renegade Engines

We believe that the 2023 Jeep Renegade will continue with two familiar engine options on the offer. Base versions should carry on with the good-old 2.4-liter inline-four, which puts out around 180 horsepower. Also, there is a small 1.3-liter turbo-four engine, which features a max output of 177 horsepower but offers better dynamics, due to more torque. Both engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The turbo-four is more efficient and returns around 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Also, there is the chance to finally see the PHEV version of Renegade. We presume it would come with the same specs as the UK version, which comes with a 1.3-liter turbo engine, in a combination with a 60-hp electric motor. Two output variants are available, with either 190 or 240 horsepower.
