2023 Jeep Baby SUV: What We Know So Far

Jeep is expanding its lineup and if you think that things can’t go smaller than the Renegade, you are wrong. The company is preparing a new model, which will be even smaller. For now, we call it the 2023 Jeep Baby SUV, though there is no doubt that the final version will be called a little bit different. In any case, the new model is expected to arrive by the end of this year and we are about to see some pretty interesting novelties.

This will be a completely new model and it won’t have too many things in common with the rest of the Jeep lineup. Instead, it will benefit from FCA’s merger with PSA in the way that it will feature PSA’s technology in many ways. We presume that the focus will be on the European market, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see it in North America and other markets as well.

The 2023 Jeep Baby SUV will be a brand-new model, the smallest one in the company’s lineup. As we’ve just mentioned, it will benefit a lot from the FCA’s merger with the PSA group. More precisely, the new crossover will ride on PSA’s CMP architecture, which is designed for small vehicles in particular. The platform already underpins models like DS3 Crossback and Opel Mokka, so we may expect a lot of things in common. However, it won’t be produced in the same factory in France, but rather in Fiat’s assembly in Poland.

In any case, we count on a crossover with tiny dimensions, probably around 100 inches in wheelbase. When it comes to the styling, we count on a strong resemblance to other Jeep models, especially at the front end, while the overall shape may take some inspiration from the Renegade.

Interior Design

It’s still early to talk about interior design. Still, we may presume that the dashboard will utilize some kind of funky design solutions, in order to attract more buyers. Of course, we also count on various kinds of tech features and a relatively long list of standard equipment.

When it comes to the passenger and cargo space, keep in mind the dimensions. Still, the new 2023 Jeep Baby SUV will feature four doors and we expect that kids and shorter passengers will be able to drive comfortably in the second row.

More details about the interior design should come in the next few months.

2023 Jeep Baby SUV Engines

Of course, this will be one of the most interesting aspects of the new 2023 Jeep Baby SUV. What’s great about the CMP architecture is that it supports all kinds of powertrain options. Therefore, one of the key powertrain options will be an all-electric version. This version will feature a single electric motor with a max output of 136 horsepower. Also, we count on a 50-kWh battery pack, which should ensure around 200 miles of the all-electric range.

However, the all-electric powertrain won’t be the only one on the offer. We also count on a 1.2-liter PureTech gasoline engine from PSA, while there is even a chance to see a diesel version on the offer too. That model would feature a 1.5-liter HDi engine. Both engines should come with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.

Timothy

Timothy has been an FCA enthusiast way before the two major companies merged. With an innate passion for muscle cars from the golden era, Ram trucks and anything that has a huge engine under the hood, it’s not hard to presume that Timothy is a true motorhead. On the other side, classic Italian sports cars have always had a special place in his heart, as a sense of style and sophistication is an integral part of his persona. For Timothy, FCA is a perfect match.
