Jeep engineers are currently pretty busy with the electrification of the company’s lineup. We already talked about the new Avenger, which will be the company’s first EV SUV. However, that model will be offered in Europe, not in North America. For this part of the world, Jeep prepares something bigger and more capable, and it should come soon after. The latest reports suggest that the new model is about to come as the 2024 Jeep Recon, probably sometime during 2024.
In any case, we know that this model will be much bigger than the Avenger. It will be a mid-size SUV, with a rugged and boxy design, heavily inspired by Wrangler. However, it won’t replace the legendary off-roader, as the recent Magneto concepts clearly indicate that the Wrangler will have an electric future as well. Instead, the Recon will ride on a unibody platform and it should a kind of all-electric alternative to the Grand Cherokee.
2024 Jeep Recon Design
At this point, it’s still early to talk about details. On the other hand, it’s relatively easy to make some basic predictions. As we already mentioned, this will be a mid-size SUV and from what we can see in the photos, it will look pretty rugged. The overall shape has a lot in common with Wrangler. The 2024 Jeep Recon takes a lot of inspiration from the legendary off-roader in this aspect but on the other hand, the front end is designed in a little bit different manner. This part of the vehicle combines Jeep’s contemporary styling elements with futuristic design solutions, which clearly accentuate the vehicle’s all-electric nature.
When it comes to mechanics, we presume that, despite the rugged and boxy look, the new 2024 Jeep Recon will rather be a unibody crossover, while hard off-road tasks will be left for the all-electric Wrangler. The Recon will be smoother and more comfortable but it definitely won’t lack off-road performance. We count on a lot of off-road features, including massive all-terrain tires, high ground clearance, various traction control modes etc.
Interior
The interior is still a bit mystery, at least when it comes to aesthetics. We presume the new SUV will offer a dashboard that combines some boxy elements with quality materials, while a full load of tech features is pretty much a certain thing.
On the other hand, large dimensions and boxy shapes promise a lot of useful interior space. At this point, it’s still unclear whether the new Recon is about to feature two or three rows of seats, but we are closer to the five-seat configuration, which would offer plenty of room in both rows and accommodate adults with ease. The cargo area should be pretty generous too.
2024 Jeep Recon Powertrain, Battery, Range
Although we know for sure that the 2024 Jeep Recon will be an all-electric SUV, we still don’t know anything about the drivetrain. What we expect is a dual-motor setup, with a respectable amount of power, while high-performance variants are possible too. In any case, things shouldn’t go in the direction of the Magneto concept, which came with a super-capable 600-hp setup but also with a manual transmission. Instead, the new SUV would rather feature a more typical, single-speed transmission.
When it comes to the battery, it’s early to talk about the capacity. Still, we count on a pack that will be large enough to ensure a competitive range, which would be around 300 miles by today’s standards. Besides good range, the new SUV would have to offer good charging speed with a fast DC charger.
2024 Jeep Recon Release Date and Price
The 2024 Jeep Recon should arrive sometime in 2024 and the latest reports suggest that the base versions could cost around 60.000 dollars.
