2020 Jeep JT Pickup, Specs, Interior, Price

After years of waiting, the Wrangler-based pickup truck has finally come last year. Although officially named Gladiator, most truck enthusiasts and experts prefer the JT codename, so we will use it as well. The 2020 Jeep JT debuted last spring, so we can already talk about the first impression, as the new model is on the road for some time.

Of course, the first impression is its attractive look, heavily based on the legendary Wrangler, but this pickup actually has much more to offer. Just like its SUV sibling, it offers impressive off-road performances, while its extra-long wheelbase ensures a lot of space on the inside and great overall practicality. Finally, there is a great towing potential, which is expected to reach its peak with the introduction of a new diesel version. The base model comes standard with a V6 engine, so it’s no wonder that the starting price is notably higher compared to competitors.

2020 Jeep JT Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2020 Jeep JT pickup shares most of its part with Wrangler. The two models are almost identical in terms of mechanics, thought the new pickup features significantly longer wheelbase. Still, the styling remains the same, at least when it comes to the front end, which is almost identical. On the other side, the rear end is designed in a typical truck manner, though we have to say that this model comes in just one body style, with a crew cab and a short bed. Single cab models aren’t available at the moment and probably won’t in the future either.

The mechanical aspect is pretty much the same as on the Wrangler, including the suspension. Even the ground clearance is the same and goes around 10 inches. So you may count on equally impressive off-road performances, which make this truck one of the most capable models in the class.

Interior

The comfort and overall interior design are definitely some of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator JT’s trump cars. While many trucks can even be pretty tight, this one is generous in terms of legroom in both rows. While the front row is good for about 41 inches, the second row offers more than 38 inches of legroom, which is on par with many mid-size crossovers. Also, the cabin looks pretty nice. It is practically the same as in the Wrangler, especially when it comes to the dashboard design.

The dashboard is quite attractive, as it combines modern and classic design solutions in a pretty nice manner. Moreover, we like the fact that most materials feature quite high quality, while some surfaces are even soft to the touch, which isn’t a common thing among mid-size pickup trucks.

Features

The thing we like about this pickup truck is that it comes with a pretty wide range of trim levels. On one side, base models are perfect for those who want nothing but a workhorse. You won’t get too many standard features. For example, there are no such things as power locks or windows. In these models, all you get are things like a 5-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker audio system, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. Of course, there is much more in higher trim levels, where you can get all kinds of features, such as  7- or 8.4-inch touch screen, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, satellite radio, navigation, removable Bluetooth wireless speaker, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto etc.

2020 Jeep JT Engine and Performance

Currently, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator JT pickup comes with just one engine in the offer. It is a familiar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes standard with manual transmission. Of course, the automatic gearbox is available too. All in all, performances are pretty decent. Moreover, the truck offers a pretty impressive max towing capacity of 7.650 pounds, so we may expect even higher ratings once the diesel model arrives.

A diesel version of 2020 Jeep JT is expected to hit the market in a couple of months. We count on a familiar 3.0-liter V6, which delivers around 240 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. With such numbers, this truck should offer class-leading towing ratings, which could easily go over 8.000 pounds. Also, count on a much better fuel economy, as the current V6 model is pretty thirsty and returns around 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

Some reports also speculate about the new turbo-four, but the company is still quiet about this engine option.

2020 Jeep JT Pricing

Considering that the 2020 Jeep JT comes standard with a V6 engine and crew cab layout, it’s no wonder that the base price goes around 34.000 dollars. Of course, the price goes much higher as you choose more standard equipment and the highest trims go around 45.000 dollars.
