As we already mentioned, the company considers this tailgate as a premium feature, so it’s not a part of standard equipment. Moreover, it is reserved for higher trim levels only, particularly for Rebel, Laramie Longhorn and Limited trims.
The Rebel is the cheapest Ram truck you can get with the new tailgate. It is an off-road-focused version of the truck, which comes with various mechanical upgrades, particularly in terms of suspension and chassis in general. Also, it adds a couple of nice interior goodies like power-adjustable driver’s seat, satellite radio, and a 115-volt household-style power outlet. Interestingly, 4WD is not standard, despite we are talking about an off-road model.
When it comes to the Laramie Longhorn, you may come on much more standard equipment. Among many additional features, we should mention things like premium leather upholstery, heated rear seats, navigation, HD Radio etc.
Finally, Limited is the most luxurious version of the truck. It comes standard with all kinds of features, including things like 12-inch vertically oriented touch screen, power running boards, a class-exclusive active four-corner air suspension system, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and wireless device charging.
At this point, we can only talk about the 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 tailgate. At this point, the new feature isn’t available in HD models, but that doesn’t mean this won’t change in the future. Another thing we should mention is that this feature is available only in models with a 5’7” tailgate.

2020 Dodge Ram Updates
Besides the new 2020 Dodge Ram tailgate, this year has brought a couple of more interesting novelties. Of course, there are some interesting novelties in terms of new standard features, but the biggest novelty for this year is a new diesel version. This model comes with a familiar but upgraded, 3.0-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. With such amount of torque, it’s no wonder that the max towing capacity of this version goes over 12.500 pounds, which is arguably the highest rating among half-ton diesel pickup trucks. Of course, the other benefit is fuel economy, which is notably better compared to gasoline models. The exact numbers are still unavailable.

The 2020 Dodge Ram hasn’t come with too many changes in terms of the price. The base model starts at around 32.200 dollars, while fully-equipped versions could easily go close to 60.000 dollars.
