2020 Jeep Renegade: Specs, Trim Levels, Price

The entry-level model in Jeep’s lineup may be small, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t capable. Moreover, this is the company’s approach to something that should be strong not just in the urban jungle, but on hard terrains as well. The Renegade is strong in both fields and that is its strongest point compared to the competition, which isn’t that capable off the road. After the last-year facelift, the 2020 Jeep Renegade continues in the same way. This is pretty much a carryover model, though there are some smaller updated in terms of standard and available features.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade definitely has a lot of things to offer. First of all, it offers pretty strong off-road capabilities. It also features an intuitive infotainment system and a nice-looking cabin. Generally, it is a pretty comfortable crossover, but we don’t like the fact that the powertrain is neither potent nor fuel-efficient. Also, the list of standard equipment should be longer. All in all, the 2020 Jeep Renegade is definitely worth considering.

2020 Jeep Renegade Design

In terms of base design characteristics, there are no surprises with the 2020 Jeep Renegade. The recent update has brought a couple of styling novelties and this model continues with all of them. On the other side, the mechanics and overall layout haven’t been changed since the initial launch. Therefore, it still rides on a familiar Small US Wide platform, the same one that underprints Fiat 500X, but also a slightly bigger Compass.

Of course, one of the first things that come to mind when it comes to this crossover is its off-road capability. There’s no other model in the class that offers such good off-road performances and the reason is simple. First of all, this small SUV features a very good 4×4 system, while models like 2020 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk also comes standard with things like traction management system, skid plates, all-terrain tires and raised suspension.

Interior

When it comes to the 2020 Jeep Renegade interior, there are both good and bad things. On one side, the cabin looks nice, while materials are okay. Of course, there is a lot of hard plastics but that’s a typical thing for a subcompact crossover. Still, the overall impression is pretty good. Also, we like the infotainment system, which is intuitive and comes with lots of features. In higher trims, you can get bigger touchscreens, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2020 Jeep Renegade interior

On the other side, interior space is a mixed bag. There is plenty of headroom in both rows, but rear seats are a little bit tight when it comes to legroom. Seats are comfortable and support is decent. Higher trims also offer an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. The cargo area is typical for the class. You can count on about 18.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats, while the overall capacity goes slightly over 50 cubic feet.

2020 Jeep Renegade Engines

Two engines are available in this small crossover. Base models come with a familiar 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which is good for about 180 horsepower. Also, there is a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine, which features 177 horses but delivers better driving dynamics, due to more torque. Both engines come in pairs with a 9-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to fuel economy, things aren’t impressive at all. The base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which are subpar ratings for the class. The turbo-four is slightly better.

Trim Level and Prices

There are four basic trim levels in the offer for this model. Those would be Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade price starts at 22.300 dollars. For that sum, you get the base Sport trim, which is a little bit short in terms of standard equipment. Still, some essential features are standard, like a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB ports, 6-speaker audio system, a rearview camera etc.

The Latitude trim is a bit of an upgrade and it costs slightly over 24.000 dollars. You may count on things like dual-zone climate control, 7-inch touch screen, an additional USB port, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto etc. Also, this trim level opens several packages, so you can get a bigger touchscreen, more safety features and similar things.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade Limited seems quite luxurious. Some of the highlights are things like remote start, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Also, this model comes with various upgrades in terms of styling and interior design. Also, a turbocharged engine is standard. The price goes around 26.700 dollars.

2020 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk

Finally, there is the Trailhawk model, which comes with numerous mechanical upgrades that provide better off-road performance. Some of the highlights are things like full-time four-wheel drive with low-range gearing, all-terrain tires, skid plates, a higher ride height, tow hooks etc, Additionally, you can get Selec-Terrain system that allows you to choose different driving modes, depending on terrain. The price goes around 28.000 dollars.
