The current generation of this compact crossover has been around for a while and it’s time for novelties. It looks like we will see some pretty interesting ones, particularly in terms of the powertrain, as the hybrid version is on the way. The new model already had a premiere and it is expected to come later in the year, as the 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid. This model will come with a new PHEV system, and it will be both powerful and efficient.
On the other side, the rest of the vehicle is about to remain largely the same. We will see a familiar design, with the typical Jeep styling. Also, the cabin should remain pretty much untouched, though novelties in terms of standard equipment are always welcome. This particularly refers to tech goodies. All in all, the new model is expected to arrive sometime later in the year, though the exact date and price tag are yet to be announced.
2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid Specs
When it comes to the specs of the new model, you may expect both plenty of power and great efficiency. The 2021 Jeep Compass Plug-In Hybrid will take best of both worlds. It will be based on a 1.3-liter turbo-four gasoline engine and with the help of electric motors, it will feature a max output of 240 horsepower. With such output, it will need less than seven seconds to hit 60 mph.
As a PHEV crossover, the new version will also feature all-electric mode and you may count on a range of more than 30 miles. That seems pretty good, given the battery’s capacity of 12 kWh. Also, the max speed in electric mode is around 70 mpg. On the other side, details like 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid mpg are still unavailable.
2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid Trim Levels
At this point, it is still unknown whether the new powertrain is about to be offered across the whole range of models, or we are about to see a special trim level called 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid. The latter would probably mean a higher price, due to more standard equipment. On the other side, if the company is about to offer this powertrain across the whole range, you may count on familiar trim levels.
Currently, this crossover comes in four trim levels. The base Sport model already comes with a decent amount of standard equipment. You may count on things like cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and push-button start. In terms of tech goodies, you may count on a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports and more.
The Latitude trim comes with a couple of nice upgrades. Some of the first things that come to mind are bigger wheels, keyless entry, and satellite radio, as well as an upgraded upholstery. The Limited is a luxury trim, which adds leather seats, a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Moreover, you may count on bigger wheels, as well as on a bigger 8.4-inch touchscreen.
Finally, there is the Trailhawk trim, which is an off-road version of this small crossover. Besides unique visual details, this model also features various mechanical upgrades. Some of the highlights are Jeep Active Drive Low four-wheel-drive system, all-season on/off-road tires with 17-inch wheels, an off-road suspension system, two tow hooks, and additional skid plates.
2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid Styling and Interior Design
When it comes to aesthetics, we don’t expect to see any particular differences compared to the rest of the lineup. The 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid is expected to come with a familiar look, which is designed in a typical Jeep manner. Most likely, we will see just a couple of details that will accentuate the model’s PHEV character.
The same thing goes for interior design. Other than a new instrument cluster, the 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid shouldn’t come with any particular difference compared to the gasoline model. This means you may count on the same cabin look, which is characterized by a pretty decent overall quality. Also, the Compass features a quite spacious cabin, with enough room to accommodate adult passengers in both rows. When it comes to the cargo space, this crossover offers around 27 cubic feet behind the second row and nearly 60 cubic feet of the overall cargo space. Keep in mind that these are ratings for the standard gasoline models. The new 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid could be a little bit tighter, due to the battery pack.
Release Date and Price
The new version has been presented last month. However, we haven’t heard anything about more precise date, though we may presume the new model will market later in the year. The 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid price is also a mystery at the moment. The next year will also bring to us hybrid versions of Renegade and Wrangler.
