2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Preview, Specs, Features

The current-generation Cherokee must have been one of the older SUVs on the market, but still has a couple of great things to offer, especially the Trailhawk trim, which is a dedicated off-roader of this interesting SUV. The latest reports suggest that the company isn’t rushing with the redesign and that the current generation is about to remain on offer for the next year as well. And, it looks like the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk will feature no significant changes. Instead, it will offer familiar design and features.

This means that you may count on a design that offers a nice blend of off-road and on-road performance, along with a capable powertrain and a decent level of overall comfort. Of course, as we are talking about a vehicle that has been around for almost a decade, it’s easy to conclude that not all things about this SUV are ideal. The cabin looks a little bit outdated, while some of the latest tech features are missing.

We expect to see the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Design

As for the overall design, the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk will continue in the same way. This version heavily relies on the standard model but there are also various upgrades. Styling is one of them and with just one look, you can see a couple of exclusive details, starting from red tow hooks that are mounted on a redesigned front bumper that features different shapes, in order to provide a better approach angle. The same is true with the rear bumper, while you can also notice lots of black cladding around the vehicle, along with exclusive wheels design.

The mechanical aspect is also heavily based on the standard model, which means that you may count on a ride that’s rather comfortable than engaging. That elevates to an even higher level with this particular version, thanks to the setup that’s designed for off-roading and, therefore, feels even softer.

Off-Road Features

This is a dedicated off-road version of a crossover that tends to offer a bit of both words. Therefore, you won’t find some heavy-duty features underneath like in Wrangler for example. There is no solid axle but rather a more civilized suspension setup that includes a typical McPherson strut at the front and, more importantly, multi-link rear suspension on the rear end. Of course, there are upgraded dampers, with slightly better articulation, while the ground clearance has been increased too.

Of course, the list of off-road features goes on and includes many more things, starting from the upgraded drivetrain, which includes the Jeep Active Drive Lock four-wheel-drive system. Compared to the standard model, this system adds a couple of new traction modes, as well as a rear locker. Finally, let’s not forget all-terrain tires.

Interior

On the inside, one of the first things you’ll notice about this particular version of Cherokee is a bigger infotainment screen. Moreover, there is a good portion of standard equipment, even though some features of the standard Cherokee are missing, especially when it comes to comfort and convenience features. You can pay extra to get them, through packages like Premium Leather, which adds leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable passenger seat and similar things. Another interesting package is the Sun and Sound, which adds goodies like a panoramic sunroof and a premium nine-speaker audio system.

The overall cab layout, on the other hand, doesn’t feel much different compared to the standard model. Moreover, things look quite the same, with the same organization of space, where this SUV accommodates up to five passengers quite easily. And, just like the standard model, this one offers relatively modest cargo when compared to rivals. In numbers, that would be around 25 cubic feet behind the second row and 56 cubic feet in total.

2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Engine

The good-old V6 was discontinued a while ago, so the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk will continue with just one powertrain option on offer. That would be a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which offers a quite respectable max output of 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It comes coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which also does a pretty decent job.

Driving dynamics are good, but fuel economy could be better. In numbers, it goes around 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The max towing capacity is around 4,000 pounds.

2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Release Date and Price

With no bigger changes to come, we presume that the 2024 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 43,000 dollars.
