Jeep’s subcompact crossover may be among the oldest models in the segment but strong sales numbers clearly suggest that the current generation won’t be replaced that soon. Therefore, we expect to see no bigger changes for the 2022 Jeep Renegade. Moreover, this should be a typical carryover model, which will come with a familiar layout and features. Practically, the best we could see for the next year are some additions to the list of standard equipment, and maybe a new color option or two.
Other than that, things are about to remain the same. This means you may count on a crossover that offers solid off-road performances. At the same time, the on-road ride is smooth and comfortable. Also, most reviewers really like Jeep’s intuitive infotainment system. However, this model also comes with a couple of drawbacks, such as low mpg ratings and reliability ratings that aren’t particularly great. We expect to see this model sometime in the second half of next year.
2022 Jeep Renegade Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation of this small crossover is expected to remain in production for a few more years. Therefore, it’s hard to expect any particular update before the overhaul. The new Jeep Renegade 2022 will carry on with a familiar layout, based on a familiar Compact US Wide architecture. It features 101.2 inches in wheelbase, while the overall length goes around 166.6 inches. Mechanically, it shares most things with models like Jeep Compass and Fiat 500X.
In terms of styling, the current generation received a facelift last year. For that occasion, we saw a new front end, which includes a revised bumper, new LED lights and slightly bigger grille. Taillights have been revised as well. All in all, we don’t expect to see aesthetical changes in the near future.
Interior
The same thing goes for interior design. We are about to see the same cabin design, which looks good, though we have to say that some younger rivals look more upscale. Still, the overall quality is pretty decent for the class and we certainly like the benefits that come from Renegade’s boxy shape. The amount of headroom is generous in both rows and if we are about to talk about 2022 Jeep Renegade interior dimensions, you may count on the same numbers. The front row offers more than 41 inches of legroom, while the second row is good for about 35 inches. Therefore, taller passengers may feel a little bit tight in the second row.
When it comes to the cargo area, this crossover offers slightly above-average numbers for the class. You may count on about 18.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total capacity goes up to 50.8 cubic feet.
Features
This is where novelties are possible. Still, don’t expect to see too much, as the current model already comes fairly well-equipped. All models come standard with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and six speakers. In higher trim levels, you can also get a bigger 8.4-inch touchscreen, as well as things like HD radio, 9-speaker audio system, additional USB ports etc.
The same thing goes for safety, as the current model seems untypically decent for a Jeep in this aspect. Things under the hood definitely won’t change. Therefore, you may count on two familiar engine options. Base models will continue with a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, which puts out around 180 horsepower. On the other side, the optional turbo-four is good for about 175 horsepower. However, it features a little bit more torque, so driving dynamics are slightly better. Still, none of these two is particularly impressive.
When it comes to 2022 Jeep Renegade mpg ratings, the base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. On the other side, the optional turbo-four is slightly better and returns around 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
