2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Specs, Features, Release Date

The new generation of the legendary SUV is here. The new, long-wheelbase version debuted last year, while the standard version is on the way and it will hit the market as the 2022 model. Therefore, it makes sense to see the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee without more important updates. Still, we believe this is a perfect time for upgraded versions, for high-performance models, Such as SRT and Hellcat. At this point, the officials are quiet, so make sure to take these two models with a reserve.

Other than the new high-performance versions, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee should continue in a familiar way. The new generation is here and it offers way better ride quality, along with more tech features and improved off-road capabilities. Furthermore, we like its interior design, which looks very luxurious and comes with lots of standards and available equipment. The new model should hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Design

The Grand Cherokee has just been redesigned and we don’t expect changes in the following years. Simply, this overhaul has brought a lot of improvements, starting from a new Alfa Romeo Giorgio platform. Compared to the previous generation, this Grand Cherokee is lighter, more efficient and way better to drive. Of course, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue in two variants, either as a standard or stretched “L” model.

In both cases, you may count on strong off-road capabilities. This SUV can be packed with some pretty serious off-road hardware, starting from all-wheel drive, multiple transfer cases, limited-slip differential, hill descent control, adjustable air suspension, skid plates and many more. Performance-oriented models should come with further upgrades regarding suspension, brakes etc. Naturally, we also count on visual upgrades, which will accentuate the high-performance character of these versions.

Interior

This is one of the most improved aspects of the new generation. Just one look and you can realize that the new cabin looks way more upscale. It features lots of clean, horizontal lines, while the materials and overall build quality are at a pretty high level too.

Base models will offer two rows of seats, while the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will feature a stretched wheelbase and three rows of seats. The first two rows are very generous with space, while the third row can be useful too, at least for shorter trips.

The stretched version is also better in terms of cargo capacity. You may count on about 17 cubic feet behind the third row, 47 cubic feet behind the second and 85 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. That’s about average for the segment. Three-row SUVs like Honda Pilot offer way more cargo space.

Features

We don’t believe that too many things could change for the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, regarding the standard and available equipment. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, an 8.4-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, USB ports, Bluetooth, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get upgrades like a 10.1-inch touch screen, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, wireless device charging, navigation, a sunroof, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and a rear-seat monitoring camera.

The same thing is with safety features. The current model comes with a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear parking sensors, and rear cross traffic alert. Additionally, there are upgrades like a head-up display, traffic sign recognition, driver drowsiness monitoring, intersection assist, front parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, night vision assist, and parallel and perpendicular park assist.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engines

Under the hood, base models will continue with a familiar 3.6-lite V6 engine, which puts out 293 horsepower. If you’re up for something more powerful, there is a well-known 5.7-liter V8 Hemi, which puts out 357 horsepower. Both engines come with an excellent 8-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to fuel economy, the V6 returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The V8 is notably thirstier and returns around 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

We also believe that this could be the right moment for a high-performance version. One of them should come with the “SRT” badge, equipped with the well-known 6.4-liter Hemi engine. It puts out around 475 horsepower. We believe that the version with the Hellcat engine could come too, with the monstrous 6.2-liter Supercharged V8, with over 700 horsepower.
