2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Preview: Specs and Features

Named after the famous trail, the Rubicon represents the most capable version of the legendary SUV. Although versions of Wrangler offer great off-road performance, this particular model goes even further, with all those upgrades, which include suspension modifications, more off-road hardware, higher ground clearance and many other things. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is about to continue in the same way.

According to the latest reports, the next year’s model won’t bring any particular changes. We are about to see a familiar design and features, with familiar configurations on the offer. A great thing about the Rubicon is that it can be configured in so many ways. It is available in different body styles, as well as with five different powertrain options.

As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon release date will be scheduled for the end of this year.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Design

Design-wise, the Rubicon heavily relies on the standard Wrangler. The overall layout is the same, while you can also count on two well-known body styles. Of course, we are talking about two- and four-door models. Just like any other Wrangler, this one can also come with removable roof and door panels and similar things.

Still, the most important aspect of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will remain the off-road capability. This is where things become impressive, as there is a full load of off-road hardware on the offer. The list of upgrades includes things like locking front and rear differentials, 33-inch all-terrain tires, heavy-duty Fox shock absorbers, and rock sliders. Also, the ground clearance goes all-away up to 13 inches, which provides impressive approach and departure angles of 47 and 40 degrees, respectively.

Visually, the model doesn’t stand out from the crowd too much. Practically, the recognizable “Rubicon” decays on the hood are the only way to recognize this trim level.

Xtreme Recon package

The company has recently introduced a new Xtreme Recon package, which makes this SUV even more capable. It comes with a couple of upgrades over the standard Rubicon, such as 35-inch all-terrain tires, a 1.5-inch suspension lift, heavy-duty Fox shocks, and protective rock sliders for the door sills. Also, you may count on slightly revised gear ratios, for an even smoother off-road ride.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Engines

One of the best things about the Rubicon is that it can be configured in so many ways. When it comes to the powertrain, there are five options on offer.

Of course, the offer starts with a 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Still, we would strongly recommend the optional 2.0-liter turbo-four. Even though it features 15 horses less than the V6, it features 35 pound-feet more torque, which makes it more capable off the road. Speaking of the torque, we are pretty sure that the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is the best choice. Not only that this engine is very efficient, but also offers plenty of torque. It is rated at 440 pound-feet, while the max power goes around 260 horsepower.

The last year’s update has brought a plug-in hybrid version and a great thing to know that this powertrain is available in the Rubicon trim as well. The system is based on a turbo-four engine and it offers a pretty respectable max output of 375 horsepower. Finally, there is the V8 engine, but it comes as a part of the separate trim level offer, in the form of Rubicon 392.

All engines come in pair with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, which does a fantastic job.

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 will also continue in the same way. This trim level is mostly about the engine upgrade. It comes exclusively with the well-known 6.4-liter HEMI engine that features a max output of 470 horsepower. With all that power, the Wrangler needs just 4.5 seconds to hit 60 mph.
Besides the engine upgrade, this version also comes with a full load of standard equipment. You can find things like leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and LED headlights and fog lights.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Release Date and Price

We expect that the next year’s model will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022. When it comes to the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon price, base versions should go around 45.000 dollars. The Rubicon 392 should feature a starting price of around 75.000 dollars.
