2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Preview, Specs, Features

The current generation of the legendary SUV has been completely redesigned for 2022 and the second production year also brought big novelties. Namely, the 2023 model came with a new, plug-in hybrid powertrain, which Jeep likes to call 4xe. The powertrain is largely the same as in the Wrangler 4xe and we presume that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, which will represent the second production year of the hybrid, probably won’t feature bigger changes. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates, such as the powertrain’s availability in lower trim levels and things like that.

Despite the possible updates, we are pretty sure that the overall layout won’t change. The next year’s model will remain one of the most capable variants of the popular mid-size SUV, with an excellent balance between power and efficiency. Furthermore, this SUV offers an attractive design, strong off-road performance and a pretty luxurious cabin. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to the small cargo area and high starting price.

We expect that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Powertrain

Although 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe updates are always possible, we definitely don’t expect to see any notable changes regarding the powertrain. The next year’s model will carry on with the same system, which combines a 2.0-liter turbo-four with a single electric motor, for a total output of 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. For comparison, that’s more power and way more torque compared to the V8-powered Grand Cherokee, which is good for about 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.

The system comes coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while there is also a 17-kWh battery pack, which ensures around 25 miles of the all-electric range. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 56 mpg-e, according to the manufacturer.

In terms of the overall design, the hybrid version isn’t much different than the rest of the lineup. Just like gas-powered models, it benefits from the recent redesign and switch to the Giorgio platform, which ensures a pretty engaging handling and overall driving experience. At the same time, the Grand Cherokee didn’t lose any of its off-road capabilities. Moreover, the hybrid powertrain is even available in the Trailhawk trim, which comes with extra features like adaptive air suspension, electronic rear limited-slip differential, electronically disconnecting stabilizer bar, hill ascent and descent control, and front tow hooks.

In terms of aesthetics, the current generation is still pretty fresh. The 2024 Grand Cherokee will represent the third production year, so it’s pretty obvious that it’s still early for a major update. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates, such as new color options and similar things.

Interior

The same thing is with the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe interior. Simply, it’s still early for bigger changes, so the next year’s model will certainly continue in the same way, which isn’t a bad thing at all. The Grand Cherokee offers a nice-looking interior, with an elegant and modern dashboard, nice materials and good overall build quality. Also, it’s good to know that the hybrid powertrain is offered in mid-range and higher trim levels only, so each Grand Cherokee 4xe comes equipped very well, with fine materials, lots of tech features etc.

The seating configuration will also remain the same. There are two very spacious and comfortable rows of seats, which accommodate taller passengers in a nice fashion. If you’re looking for an extra row of seats, the Grand Cherokee L is also available. As mentioned, one of the main complaints about this SUV is its relatively small cargo area. You may count on about 37.7 feet of space behind the second row and 70.8 cubic feet with the rear row folded. That’s rather on par with compact than mid-size SUVs.

Trim Levels

The current model is available in three trim levels: Trailhawk, Overland and Summit.

The Trailhawk comes with the aforementioned off-road features, as well as a good number of tech and convenience goodies. Some of the highlights are things like a gloss black roof, auto-dimming rearview mirror, navigation, nine-speaker audio system etc. You can also opt for a few optional packages, including the one that offers a bigger touchscreen and a passenger touchscreen.

The Overland trim adds several luxury upgrades, such as a hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable steering wheel, ventilated front seats, upgraded leather upholstery, automatic braking etc. Once again, there are several packages available, as well as standalone options.

Finally, the range-topping Summit adds features like a seat massaging function, wood-trimmed steering wheel, four-zone climate control, surround-view camera, driver attention monitoring and many more.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 60.000 dollars.
