The 2021 Gladiator has just arrived and we are already getting reports about the novelties for the 2022 Jeep Gladiator. Simply, some of the novelties we’ve been expecting for this year didn’t arrive, so many believe they could come a year later. This particularly refers to the ultra-high-performance Hercules model, while some other tweaks are possible too. On the other side, most of the other things should remain pretty much the same.
All this means that the 2022 Jeep Gladiator will remain generally the same vehicle that has been introduced a few years ago. The overall design will remain the same and it looks that chances for a single cab model are minimal. The engine lineup will certainly remain the same, despite that some sources suggest that a hybrid version could arrive. The new model is expected to arrive sometime in the second half of next year.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, we certainly won’t see any bigger changes. The mechanical aspect will certainly remain the same, while the model is also pretty fresh for any visual updates. Therefore, you may count on the same Wrangler-based layout, with a strethce wheelbased and a typical truck layout. Despite that rumors suggest the possibility to see a single cab version, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Jeep Gladiator will carry on in a double cab layout only.
Still, that doesn’t mean we couldn’t see big novelties. This particularly refers to the rumored ultra-high-performance version called Hercules. This would be the toughest off-road version of the truck, even though it’s hard to imagine something more extreme than the current Rubicon model. It already comes with goodies like Fox off-road shock absorbers, locking front and rear axles, an electronic sway bar disconnect, 17-inch wheels, 33-inch all-terrain tires, rock rails, black fenders. So, going further would definitely make this truck too extreme for most drivers.
Interior
Bigger changes on the inside are not expected either. The 2022 Jeep Gladiator interior will continue in the same way, with a familiar dashboard design and overall layout. This means pretty much the same dash as in the Wrangler, which means a nice combination of attractive aesthetics and durable materials. Of course, we also count on a long list of standard features. Of course, the possible 2022 Jeep Gladiator Hercules could come with a couple unique details, but it is still early to talk about details.
We’ve already mentioned the rumors about the single cab model. However, it looks like that’s not going to happen. Most likely, this truck will carry with a double cab layout only. More precisely, this is more of a crew cab model, which comes with probably the biggest cabin in the class, with two rows of seats that are really generous in terms of passenger space.
Features
Additions in terms of standard equipment are definitely possible. Still, we don’t expect to see something significant, just a couple of additions. The current model comes standard with things like air conditioning, manual windows and door locks, and push-button start, as well as with tech goodies like a 5-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, two USB ports etc.
The list of options (and potential candidates to get to the list of standard features) includes things like bigger 7- and 8.4-inch touchscreens, HD radio, head-up display, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto etc.
We also expect some additions to the list of standard safety features, considering that the current model isn’t particularly generous in this aspect, as a rearview camera is the only standard thing in the base model. Some additions should definitely come.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Engines
Despite some sources suggest that the 2022 Jeep Gladiator engine lineup could include hybrid version as well, we are not that optimistic. Simply, the current model already seems quite pricey for the class, so adding such a complex powertrain probably wouldn’t attract too many buyers. Therefore, we count on two familiar powertrain options in the offer.
Of course, base models will carry on with a well-known 3.6-liter V6, which features a max output of 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Of course, there is also a recently-added 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel. This one is good for about 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. Both engines offer solid driving dynamics. Still, most reviewers think that the diesel is a little bit better choice because of the extra torque.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Release Date and Price
As we already mentioned, the 2022 Jeep Gladiator release date should be scheduled for the second half of next year. We don’t expect significant changes in price, so base models should go around 35.000 dollars. Of course, key competitors will be models like Ford Ranger, Nissan Frontier, GMC Canyon etc.
