The current generation of Ram’s HD pickup has been around for almost four years and despite that the competition has received massive updates recently, this model still feels fresh and competitive. We believe that the current generation will remain in production for a few more years but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be novelties. Some of them are coming already for the next year, when the company will get the new 2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel with Cummins Off-Road package.
This version will bring all kinds of upgrades and it will stand out from the crowd in many ways, particularly in the way that it will feature a combination of unique styling details and lots of off-road hardware. This model will also be offered with a diesel engine, which will be the first time to see an off-roader of this generation equipped with an oil burner.
2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel Design and Features
The new version will bring a lot of interesting novelties, with a lot of exclusive design solutions. The first thing that you’ll notice is that the grille features pretty much the same shape as the one on Power Wagon, with the exception of the lower opening. Still, the mesh pattern is a little bit different. Furthermore, you may count on a new hood design, while all 2023 Ram models will come with new power side mirrors. Furthermore, you may count on things like blacked 18-Inch x 8-inch WRA aluminum wheels, a set of BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, and Power Wagon’s fender flares.
Under the skin, we count on a good portion of off-road features, though not as in the Power Wagon. Still, some suspension upgrades will certainly happen, along with standard four-wheel drive, locking differential etc.
Interior
When it comes to the 2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel interior, we won’t see too many exclusive details. WE count on things like exclusive upholstery and interior color schemes, while the crew cab layout should be the only one on offer.
On the other hand, this model will receive the same updates as the rest of the lineup. This refers to the dashboard revisions, which will bring a lot of interesting things. We count on a slight reshaping, while the biggest novelty will be the introduction of the new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. On the other hand, the vertically-oriented touchscreen will remain the same, just like most of the features.
2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, we expect both units to be offered in the 2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel. So, the good-old 6.4-liter HEMI V8 will be the standard choice, with a max output of around 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes coupled with a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission.
A diesel version is expected as well. That model will come with a familiar 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel from Cummins, which is available in two variants regarding power output. The base version comes with a max output of 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, while the more powerful variant puts out around 420 horsepower and 1.070 pound-feet of torque. Unlike the gasoline model, this one still uses a good-old 6-speed automatic transmission from Aisin.
2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2023 Ram Heavy Duty Rebel with Cummins Off-Road Package this fall, though it’s still early for price estimation. When it comes to the competition, we presume that key rivals could be models like F-250 with FX4 or Tremor Off-Road package, Silverado 2500 with Z71 off-road package etc.
