We live in the world of electrification, where even pickup trucks are switching to these sources of energy. The era of internal combustion trucks won’t end so soon but it’s time to start working on the new technologies. That’s why RAM is preparing the all-electric version of its famous model. It is expected to arrive already in the next year and the company promises some pretty big things. The new pickup will arrive as the 2024 RAM 1500 Electric.
We don’t know much about this pickup but if we can trust the latest reports, it will feature a pretty impressive range. It will be built on the company’s new platform, which will be used for other body-on-frame vehicles as well. The new pickup will also come with a range extender, while you may also count on a completely new design, which won’t resemble the standard 1500 model all that much.
2024 RAM 1500 Electric Design
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the overall design. Although with a familiar nameplate, this pickup will ride on a completely different platform than the gasoline-powered 1500. It will ride on the new STLA Frame electric architecture, which will late be used for HD variants as well. Moreover, the platform will also underpin fuel-cell-powered vehicles in the future.
When it comes to the styling, we probably won’t see too many similarities with the standard 1500. Of course, the overall pickup contour will be there, but the design language will be completely new, with lots of futuristic design solutions. Most likely, the crew cab will be the only layout available.
Interior
RAM’s trucks are well-known for their excellent interiors, so we have pretty big expectations from the new 2024 RAM 1500 Electric. Of course, we count on the high level of overall quality, while the dashboard styling should offer a more futuristic approach compared to the conventional 1500, in order to accentuate the model’s all-electric nature. Naturally, we also count on all kinds of the latest tech features, including massive infotainment screens, digital instrument clusters, all kinds of connectivity features and similar things.
As we’ve just mentioned, the crew cab will probably be the only cab style on offer. It should offer a generous amount of space and accommodate adults in both rows with ease. Other cab styles will probably come in the following years but won’t be ready for the initial launch.
2024 RAM 1500 Electric Powertrain and Battery
The 2024 RAM 1500 Electric will be built over the all-new all-electric architecture and one of the things we know about this platform is that the battery will be placed under the floor. Also, it will feature an 800-volt technology, which will bring various benefits regarding charging and other features. Speaking of the charging, the latest reports suggest fast charging that goes up to 150 kW.
On the other hand, the battery capacity is still unknown, even though some sources suggest a 200-kWh pack. According to the company, the new truck will feature a max range of 500 miles, which would put this pickup way above key rivals, such as Chevy Silverado EV and Ford F-150 Lightning. Moreover, the company also promises a range extender, which would come in a form of an internal-combustion engine that will charge the battery.
When it comes to the powertrain, we still don’t know the details. Still, we are pretty sure that there will be different versions on offer. We presume that even the most basic versions will feature a dual-motor setup and four-wheel drive.
2024 RAM 1500 Electric Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 RAM 1500 Electric will hit the market sometime in the next year, with a starting price of around 45.000 dollars.
