The current generation of RAM’s HD pickup has been around for a while and although it still feels quite fresh, there is a big chance to see some updates in the near future. Allegedly, the 2024 RAM 2500 is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh, which could bring a couple of pretty interesting novelties. If we consider that the competition has also been receiving big updates in the last few years, this makes perfect sense.
The officials are still quiet about the changes and the update in general. However, there are a few things to point out. First of all, we expect to see some styling updates, particularly at the front end. More importantly, the powertrain might be updated, as well as the transmission. On the other hand, we don’t believe that the 2024 RAM 2500 could bring bigger changes in terms of interior design and similar things, considering that the current model is already an absolute class leader in this aspect.
We believe that the updated model could arrive sometime in the second half of the next year.
2024 RAM 2500 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 RAM 2500 could receive a mid-cycle refresh. Considering that the competition is getting updates as well, this makes perfect sense. At this point, it’s still early to talk about details but the focus of this refresh will probably be in terms of aesthetics. The current model looks nice but the rivals look more modern and more aggressive. Therefore, we believe that the company will introduce a new front-end design, with a bolder and more aggressive appearance.
On the other hand, we don’t expect bigger changes in terms of the chassis and suspension setup. Simply, the current model is already way ahead of the competition in terms of ride quality, while the overall capability and performance are also at a super high level.
Interior
The same thing is with interior design. The current model already features the nicest cabin in the class and despite that the Silverado 2500 will soon get upgrades, the RAM 2500 will still remain the class leader in this aspect. Simply, the cabin looks attractive, while the build quality is pretty impressive. Also, there is a generous amount of tech and convenience features, which make this interior look more like a luxury SUV than a heavy-duty pickup truck.
Also, we count on familiar cabin configuration on offer. You may count on familiar variants, which accommodate between two and five people, as well as on different bed sizes.
2024 RAM 2500 Engines
Big novelties are possible under the hood as well. This particularly refers to the diesel version, which should get a significant power and torque boost. The standard version will probably continue in a variant with 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, while the 1.075-lb-ft version should be offered as well. Of course, we are talking about the good-old 6.7-liter inline-six from Cummins, which comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission from Aisin. Some sources speculate about the new transmission, with 10 gears. It may also come from Aisin, while others believe it could be sourced from Allison.
On the other hand, the gasoline model will carry on in the same way. We are about to see a good-old 6.4-liter HEMI V8, with a max output of 410 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in pair with an excellent 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
2024 RAM 2500 Release Date and Price
We believe that the 2024 RAM 2500 will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 40.000 dollars. Of course, Chevy Silverado 2500 and Ford F-250 will remain key competitors.
