Electrification, strict emission standards – this world ain’t no more for a pickup like the TRX. Powered by a monstrous supercharged V8 it was condemned to retirement, so it doesn’t surprise most of us were worried about RAM’s future of the high-performance pickup segment. Thankfully, things became clear after the announcement for the 2025 model year, which brings a host of interesting upgrades. The new off-road performance pickup is there and it comes as the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO – the new TRX is on the way. Compared to the TRX, the RHO will feature a significantly smaller engine. It will lack power as well, not to mention
the engine not. But, it’s great that RAM is willing to continue its off-road performance story, even in these very hard times for conventional powertrain setup.
2025 Ram 1500 RHO Engine
Of course, the most interesting part of the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is the powertrain. While the TRX was equipped with the legendary 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Hellcat engine, the RHO rather plays on the efficiency car. It will come equipped with a 3.0-liter Hurricane turbo inline-six engine and although some sources were suggesting that the lack of power would be compensated with electrification, that’s not going to happen. The new model is powered solely by gasoline and it puts quite respectable 540 horsepower.
Of course, that’s far from TRX’s 702 horsepower but still enough to provide great performance. That’s still more power compared to the F-150 Raptor, though far from the Raptor R, which will remain V8-powered for a little bit more time. As for the transmission, as expected, things will remain the same. Just like any other RAM 1500, this one will come equipped with an excellent 8-speed automatic transmission, though we count on additional drive modes, paddle shifters and similar upgrades.
2025 Ram 1500 RHO Design
As for the rest of the features, the officials haven’t provided much yet. We know the new 2025 Ram 1500 RHO will rely on the standard model, which gets a massive update, especially in terms of the styling, where you can see a completely revised front end, now looking more elegant and more rugged at the same time. The company also did a couple of mechanical upgrades, including the new rear axle, but we presume that won’t mean much in the case of RHO, as this version is expected to follow the example of TRX and come with all kinds of off-road upgrades.
The officials are still quiet about details, but this would mean all kinds of upgrades, starting from the off-road suspension, increased ground clearance, massive all-terrain tires, locking differentials and many other typical off-road tweaks.
Interior
As for the interior design, we may see a couple of upgrades. Things that come to mind are unique color schemes and stitching, along with new seats, upgraded steering wheels and pedals. On the other hand, the overall cabin layout will remain the same, with all the updates that come with the standard 2025 model, starting from the new infotainment system and other tech features, such as the new optional 14.5-inch infotainment screen, or also-available new passenger screen.
As for the seating configuration, except no surprises, so there will be two spacious rows of seats, with the capacity to accommodate five passengers.
2025 Ram 1500 RHO Release Date and Price
The 2025 Ram 1500 is coming next year and while the officials are yet to announce the exact release date, we know that the price will start at around 85.000 dollars. Once again, the F-150 Raptor will be the key competitor.
