2025 Dodge Ram 3500: Refresh, Changes, Transmission

The current generation of Ram’s HD lineup has been around for a while and although it still feels quite competitive, it would use a couple of updates. Both rivals seem more up-to-date, so it’s not a surprise that various sources already speculate about the mid-cycle refresh. According to them, this kind of update will come with the 2025 Dodge Ram 3500 and it looks like the updates are going to be comprehensive.

Not only that we are about to see styling changes. No, the 2025 Dodge Ram 3500 could also get important novelties under the hood, including much-anticipated transmission. Finally, there’s always room for interior updates and new tech features, even though Ram is still a segment leader in this aspect.

With all these updates to come, it’s possible to see the launch date scheduled for a little bit earlier date than usual, though still within the second half of 2024.

2025 Dodge Ram 3500 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2025 Dodge Ram 3500 will most likely get notable updates. This won’t be a full redesign but rather a mid-cycle refresh, so most of the mechanics are expected to remain the same. On the other hand, we might see notable changes in terms of aesthetics. The current model looks nice, but it would use a few more details that make it look more rugged.

What comes to our mind are a few changes at the front, in areas such as headlights, grille and bumper. The rest of the pickup probably won’t change much, but we presume certain versions could get new trim, wheels, color options and similar things.

Interior

As for the interior design, a few updates are also possible. However, let’s keep in mind that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect, with nice materials, good sound insulation and lots of standard and available equipment. We presume this refresh might bring a few minor revisions to the dashboard, along with things like a couple of new tech features.

Still, most things are about to remain the same, because the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It looks attractive and features solid build quality. Of course, we also count on the familiar configurations, including different cab styles and bed lengths.

2025 Dodge Ram 3500 Engines

As for the powertrain, some updates are possible. Base models will most likely carry on with a good-old 6.4-liter V8. The engine currently puts out around 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque but we could see some upgrades for this refresh. Much bigger expectations are from the Cummins turbodiesel. The 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel could get a power upgrade. Currently, there are two versions of the engine, with 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, as well as 400 horsepower and 1.075 pound-feet of torque. Considering that the competition has also become more powerful recently, we presume that both versions could get some increase. How bit? It’s still early to say.

Besides the new powertrain, there is also the much-speculated transmission. While the gas-powered version relies on a smooth and refined 8-speed automatic, the diesel still uses a 6-speed unit from Aisin. Although super-reliable, this gearbox feels a little bit outdated when compared to rival units. For now, details are still unavailable but various sources suggest we could see a 10-speed Allison transmission as a replacement. Others believe that Aisin could offer a new variant of its proven gearbox, with more gears. The officials are still quiet on this matter.
