2025 Jeep Cherokee Redesign: What to Expect

Next year, the current generation of the famous SUV will turn a decade but it doesn’t seem like Jeep officials are rushing with the redesign. It looks like the 2024 model will be a typical carryover, while the full redesign is finally about to happen with the 2025 Jeep Cherokee. Those are the latest reports we are getting from our reliable sources and according to them, this overhaul is about to bring quite comprehensive changes.

From what we know so far, the next-generation Cherokee will go upscale. It will ride on a new platform and it will grow notably. How much is that exactly, it’s hard to say but it looks like it will get pretty close to the mid-size segment. Of course, the inevitable part of this redesign will be electrification. Though, the new model won’t give up on internal-combustion engines, reports suggest.

In any case, we expect that the 2025 Jeep Cherokee will hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year.

2025 Jeep Cherokee Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, this is expected to be a quite comprehensive redesign, with changes and improvements in various aspects. First of all, there is the new platform. By new, we are thinking of the familiar Giorgio architecture, which already underpins the Grand Cherokee. However, for this occasion, it will be heavily modified, starting from the drivetrain. Instead of a rear-wheel-biased setup, the Cherokee will remain an FWD-biased model, even though most versions will certainly feature four-wheel drive.

Once again, we expect Cherokee to offer impressive off-road potential for its class, with an advanced four-wheel-drive system that includes a variety of advanced traction control models. At the same time, it won’t give up on traditional off-road hardware, such as locking differentials and two-speed transfer cases. The new model will be as off-road capable, while the focus will be put more on handling and on-road manners.

Exterior

As for the exterior design, the outgoing generation was a kind of experiment in an aesthetical sense, and that didn’t turn out pretty well. The company did a facelift just a few years later and brought back a more conservative design approach. That’s exactly what we expect from the new model. Of course, the Grand Cherokee would serve as a big inspiration, especially at the front. The company’s famous seven-slot grille, as well as the shape of its more conventional headlights, is something we definitely expect to see.

In terms of the overall exterior design, one of the things that comes to mind is the size. The new generation will probably get bigger, and get closer to the mid-size segment. However, we don’t expect to see too significant increases, because that would limit the model’s off-road potential. That especially refers to the wheelbase and overhangs.

Interior

If there’s an aspect of the current generation that desperately needs a refresh, that would be the cabin design. Not many things have changed since the initial launch back in 2014. So, it’s not a surprise that most rivals feature nicer and better-equipped cabins. That’s why we have big expectations from the new model.

We presume that the dashboard design could take some inspiration from bigger siblings and offer a more upscale layout, with quality materials and conventional aesthetics. We also count on a good portion of modern tech features, along with other convenience and driver-assistance goodies.

As for the interior space, bigger dimensions indicate more passenger room. But, the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. Where it needs improvement is the cargo volume, so we hope Jeep engineers will put more focus on this aspect of the SUV this time.

2025 Jeep Cherokee Engines

Various powertrain options are expected for the new 2025 Jeep Cherokee, starting from the familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four. That engine was introduced a few years ago in the current generation and it will most certainly carry on, probably without any changes. It features a max output of 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which is plenty enough to ensure good driving dynamics. On the other hand, we would definitely like to see a better transmission than the current 9-speed unit.

The new Cherokee is also about to come with an electrified powertrain, most likely a plug-in hybrid setup. That should be the same system as in Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet, with a 1.3-liter turbo-four engine. Thanks to the pretty capable electric motor, the combined output goes all way up to 288 horsepower, while the 12-kWh battery pack ensures up to 30 miles of range. Similar figures are expected in the case of the 2025 Jeep Cherokee.

2025 Jeep Cherokee Release Date and Price

As for the 2025 Jeep Cherokee release date, we already mentioned it should arrive sometime in the second half of the next year. In terms of price, the current model starts at around 37.000 dollars. So, we may expect a slight increase with the new generation.
