2023 Dodge Charger and Beyond: What We Know and What We Expect

Experts would usually say that the current Charger is way outdated by today’s standards. That’s no wonder, considering that it still rides on the stone-age LX platform. The current generation has been around since 2008 and it makes perfect sense to see a replacement as soon as possible. However, it’s hard to argue with Dodge’s management when you look at the numbers. This is still one of the most popular muscle cars on the market and that’s why the company isn’t rushing with the changes. Allegedly, the current generation will remain in production for a few more years and the 2023 Dodge Charger should be the final version of the current car.

That indicates no bigger modifications, whether it’s about engines, exterior design or something third. We count on a familiar layout, though there is always a chance to see some special version on the offer. Don’t forget that this is the final production year and such versions are always a great way to say goodbye.

2023 Dodge Charger Design

So, what to expect from the 2023 Dodge Charger? At this point, all we can say is that the base layout should remain the same. The current model has been around for way too long, so it’s no wonder we can hear a lot of critics about the ride quality. On the other hand, the styling still looks fresh, despite that the update happened years ago. That refresh brought a completely new front face, with new headlights, grille and other parts that perfectly suit Charger’s muscular pedigree.

As we already mentioned, the 2023 Dodge Charger could come with some special versions in the offer. That would probably be models with visual upgrades, which would come with new details that celebrate Charger’s great history. On the other side, we don’t expect to see bigger mechanical upgrades.

Interior

The same thing goes for interior design. This sedan has been around for a pretty long time and its dashboard definitely looks old. However, the list of tech features is more than decent, while we particularly like the amount of space we get. This is a full-size sedan, so both rows offer plenty of space. The driving position is also pretty good.

Naturally, the 2023 Dodge Charger could bring a couple of novelties in terms of standard equipment, but we believe that the core won’t be much different. So, we should find things like a 7-inch touch screen, six speakers, satellite radio, four USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Of course, there should be numerous upgrades on the offer as well, starting from dual-zone climate control, an 8.4-inch touch screen, a six- or nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and navigation.

2023 Dodge Charger Engine

This aspect of the 2023 Dodge Charger shouldn’t bring surprises. We count on the same generous powertrain offer, which includes a variety of V8 options. Still, the offer starts with a smaller 3.6-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The same engine is available in a slightly tuned variant, with 300 horses and 264 pound-feet of torque.

Still, the real deal starts with eight cylinders. The legendary R/T trim is the first in the line, equipped with a 5.7-liter V8, which features a max output of 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. The Scat Pack comes with the biggest engine on the offer, a 6.4-liter HEMI, which is good for about 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It is also our favorite choice.

If that’s not enough power for you, you can also pick a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat, which puts out 717 horsepower. The same engine is available in the SRT Hellcat Redeye version, which features nearly 800 horsepower.

All engines come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.

2023 Dodge Charger Release Date and Price

We presume that the 2023 Dodge Charger will arrive sometime in the second half of 2022, with a starting price of around 30.000 dollars.

Beyond 2023

The 2023 Dodge Charger will represent the final model year of the current generation and the successor hasn’t been confirmed yet. Despite that we are entering the era of electrification, we doubt that Dodge will drop the legendary name that easily, especially if we consider that the current Charger and Challenger still mark pretty impressive sales records. That’s why we have no doubt that both models will get a new iteration.

We presume that the new generation would move to the Giorgio platform, just like the new Grand Cherokee did. Also, we expect that the new Charged could keep most of its V8 engine options, at least in some form of electrification. More details are expected in the near future, so stay tuned.
