2025 Ram 2500 Is Getting Mid-Cycle Update

Ram already confirmed mid-cycle refresh for the light-duty 1500 model and now everyone expects bigger brothers to get the same treatment. If we can trust the latest reports, the 2025 Ram 2500 will get a mid-cycle refresh as well. It should include changes in various aspects, not just in terms of aesthetics. Interior changes are always possible, while the big thing is expected to happen under the hood. There, we expect to finally see a new transmission, while some sources also speculate about the replacement for the old HEMI V8.

In any case, this refresh is expected to be quite comprehensive and it should re-establish the model’s excellent position on the market. This truck has always been famous for a great combination of capability and refinement and these updates will only make things even better.

The new version is expected to arrive sometime in the next year, most likely in the second half, though it is still early for more precise predictions.

2025 Ram 2500 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2025 Ram 2500 will receive a mid-cycle refresh. So, the first thing that comes to mind is the exterior design. In this aspect, we might see some tweaks regarding the styling. The current model looks nice though not as rugged as its rivals, so that could be the direction of this aesthetical update. We could see a more aggressive front-end design, though we don’t expect to see anything radical.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the truck definitely won’t change, and that’s anything but a bad thing. Simply, this is an excellent pickup in terms of the ride quality, thanks to the advanced suspension setup that, at the same time, ensures great capabilities, whether it’s about towing, hauling or off-road potential. Speaking of the off-road potential, the 2025 Ram 2500 will once again come offered in two dedicated versions, such as the Rebel and the Power Wagon, both great in their own way.

Interior

As for the interior design, the 2023 model already came with a couple of novelties, including the newly available 12-inch digital instrument cluster. With these updates, as well as the fact that Ram traditionally offers the best interior in the class, it is quite obvious that there isn’t much room for further improvement. The current model already looks great from the inside, so the best we could see are some new color combinations, along with new materials in certain areas. Once again, the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect.

The same goes for the seating configurations. The 2025 Ram 2500 will continue in three different cab styles, with different amounts of space, as well as different bed lengths. This pickup is highly configurable, so it’s pretty easy to find a perfect pick.

2025 Ram 2500 Engines

Big changes may come under the hood with this update. Namely, we’ve been hearing tons of stories about the new transmission for the diesel, which still uses a good-old 6-speed unit from Aisin. Although great, this transmission is a little bit old, and the rival transmission performs a little bit better and offers a few more gears. That’s why everybody expects updates in this aspect and the upcoming refresh seems like a perfect occasion.

At this moment, it is still unclear which transmission would come as a replacement. Some sources speculate about a 10-speed Allison transmission, while others suggest that Aisin might offer a new 10-speed unit. In any case, the good-old 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel from Cummins will remain, though we could see a further increase in power in torque. Moreover, the company could finally unlock a more powerful variant of the engine, which has been exclusive to the 3500 model so far, with 1.075 pound-feet of torque.

That wouldn’t be the only big change under the hood. The base gasoline version could also be upgraded. The current model uses a good old 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, but there are sources that suggest a replacement. The replacement would come in the form of the new 3.0-liter inline-six, better known as Hurricane. We presume the company would use its more powerful variant, which puts out 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. Just like the old 8, this engine would also come coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
