The off-road version of the popular HD pickup has been around for a while and it is definitely one of the most interesting models in the class, as well as in Ram’s lineup. However, the competition is getting stronger, so the company started to offer special editions. Last November, we saw a 75th-anniversary edition, which came with several exclusive details. Now, the company prepares a new special version for the 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon.
This version has been spotted on the road and once again, it features several exclusive styling details. On the other side, we expect that the standard Power Wagon will continue in the same way, offering a full load of off-road hardware and exclusive details. We expect it will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.
2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Gets new Special Edition
As we’ve just mentioned, the new special edition is on the way. We still don’t know its name, but the test model has been spotted on the road. It shows a lot of interesting styling details, which all bring an additional dose of retro flavor. You can notice new 8-spoke 17-inch aluminum wheels, as well as some pretty cool vintage graphic, which closes resemble the legendary Macho Power Wagon.
Another interesting detail is the front grille, which comes with standard “RAM” lettering, instead of the standard one found in the recently-introduced 75th Anniversary Edition. Other than that, things look pretty much the same as on standard Power Wagon models. A couple of interior upgrades are also possible but we are still waiting to hear something from the officials.
2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Specs and Features
On the other side, standard models will continue in the same way. You may count on all those familiar upgrades, which are mostly in terms of the off-road hardware. Compared to base 2500 models, the Power Wagon comes with goodies like all-terrain tires, skid plates, upgraded suspension with performance-tuned shock absorbers, locking front and rear differentials, hill descent control etc.
Besides all these mechanical upgrades, the 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will also continue with a lot of exclusive styling details. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the presence of all those blacked details, such as powder-coated bumpers, fender flares, badging etc. Also, there are unique 17-inch wheels, which come with massive all-terrain tires. On the inside, you may count on power-adjustable cloth bench seats, rubber floor mats etc.
2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Engine
The 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will continue with a familiar 6.4-liter V8 HEMI engine, which puts out around 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission, while 4WD is standard in all Power Wagon models.
In the last couple of years, we’ve been hearing stories about the addition of Power Wagon with diesel. AT this point, the officials are still quiet about this. If it arrives, you may count on a familiar 6.7-liter turbodiesel from Cummins. The interesting thing about this engine is that it will probably get a new transmission next year. The current 6-speed unit from Aisin could be easily replaced with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. You can read more about this here.
Release Date and Price
The 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon should hit the market sometime in the second half of the year, probably in the last quarter. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes. So, base versions should go around 54.000 dollars.
