2022 Dodge Charger: What to Expect?

Despite the rumors, it looks like we won’t see the redesign of the famous muscle car that soon. More precisely, the latest reports suggest that both Charger and Challenger won’t receive a complete overhaul before 2023. This clearly indicates that the 2022 Dodge Charger will feature no significant changes. We are about to see a familiar design, familiar specs and features.

This means you may count on a model that still has a lot to offer, despite the decade-old design. First of all, this model offers an impressive powertrain lineup, which includes a plethora of powerful V8 options. At the same time, handling is composed and the overall ride quality is on a surprisingly high level. Also, you may count on a spacious cabin, with plenty of room for passengers in both rows, while the infotainment is super easy to use.

Of course, this sedan isn’t without flaws, as it offers mediocre interior quality, while reliability ratings are typical for FCA models, which means below-average. We expect to see this model on sale sometime in late 2021.

2022 Dodge Charger Design

The 2022 Dodge Charger redesign won’t happen. So, changes in terms of design definitely aren’t expected. Despite the current generation has been around since 2011, we are actually talking about the design that derives from the previous generation. We are talking about a 15-year old design, as this model still rides on a good old LX platform. In terms of the size, you may count on typical full-size dimensions. It measures around 120 inches in wheelbase, while the overall length goes over 200 inches.

In terms of styling, we don’t expect bigger changes either. The current generation has been updated five years ago and we haven’t seen more important novelties since then. Still, keep in mind that all kinds of special versions, such as Widebody package, Redeye package etc.

Interior

This aspect shouldn’t bring more significant changes either. In terms of the overall interior quality, this Charge isn’t the most attractive sedan you can find. Moreover, the dashboard definitely looks old, though materials and overall build quality are actually the biggest issues. Still, that’s what we’d normally expect from a vehicle at this price range. On the other side, the infotainment system very intuitive and works incredibly well.

2022 Dodge Charger Interior

On the other side, there is nothing to complain about in terms of interior space. With more than 120 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that this is one of the most spacious sedans on the market, especially at this price range and in this class. Both rows are extremely generous with legroom, while the rear seats are also pretty decent in terms of headroom. The cargo area is also pretty respectable for the class. You may count on about 16.5 cubic feet in the trunk.

Features

Yearly updates usually bring novelties in terms of new standard features but we don’t expect that too many things will change in the 2022 Dodge Charger. Moreover, things should remain pretty much the same. To give you a picture, the current model comes standard with things like a 7-inch touch screen, six speakers, satellite radio, four USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

In higher trim levels, you can get a bigger 8.4-inch touchscreen, as well as things like navigation, dual-zone climate control, a six- or nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot etc.

2022 Dodge Charger Engines

We’ve finally come to the most interesting aspect of this sedan. Changes for the next year are not expected, so you may count on the same impressive lineup of engines in the offer. Base models will carry on with a 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

The offer of V8 engines starts with a 5.7-liter HEMI engine, which delivers around 370 horsepower. Of course, you may also count on the 2022 Dodge Charger Scat Pack, which will carry on with the good-old 6.4-liter V8, which puts out around 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

2022 Dodge Charger SRT

Those who are looking for supercar performances should consider the 2022 Dodge Charger Hellcat, which comes with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 and a max output of 717 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, the top of the offer will be reserved for the 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which delivers nearly 800 horsepower and needs just 3.5-seconds to hit 60 mph.

2022 Dodge Charger Release Date and Price

We expect to see this model in the last quarter of 2021, with the starting price of around 30.000 dollars. The model’s counterpart, Challenger shouldn’t feature bigger changes either.
