The era of muscle cars we knew is getting to its end. Today’s automotive industry is all about electrification and as a result, classic gasoline engines won’t be in production for so long. Of course, hybrids will remain active for another decade or two, but good-old V8 engines definitely won’t. That’s why Dodge wants to grab another last chance to earn some serious money from car enthusiasts. The latest project is called the 2023 Dodge Ghoul.
All this started as an April fool’s gag a few years ago. However, the company took this gag pretty seriously and eventually decided to do such a crazy thing. If you’re not familiar with what we are talking about, it’s about the company’s crate engine that will find its place under the hood of Dodge Charger.
This version will arrive by the end of this year and according to the company, it will come in a very limited series.
2023 Dodge Ghoul Engine
Of course, the most interesting aspect of the 2023 Dodge Ghoul will be the engine. The Charger has always been the baddest of all muscle cars, so this seems like a proper farewell song. So far, the most capable Charger was available with the Hellcat engine but not it’s time for the Ellephant.
If you’re not familiar with this name, it’s important to know that this engine was designed a few years ago, as a crate unit. It is a huge 7.0-liter V8, which gets help from a supercharger. As a result, the max output goes up to 1.000 horsepower, while the max torque is estimated at 950 pound-feet. So, you can only imagine how capable this Charger will be.
Some sources speculate about all-wheel drive, but we are pretty sure this won’t happen.
2023 Dodge Ghoul Design
Of course, we have no doubt that the engine won’t be the only upgrade on the 2023 Dodge Ghoul. This Charger will need a few more modifications to deal with this stupendous amount of power. One of the first things that come to mind is the Widebody treatment, which is a certain thing. Furthermore, we count on additional suspension and chassis upgrades, which would help this car with dealing with all this power. Furthermore, we count on new brakes and several more upgrades.
Naturally, we also count on unique styling details, which will emphasize the model’s high-performance character. At this point, we don’t know the details, but we presume that the new model will come with a new body kit, with certain graphics and badges, exclusive color options and similar things. Considering the engine power, we also count on huge rear tires, as well as on unique wheels design.
Interior
Of course, exclusive details are expected on the inside as well. It’s still early to talk about details, but we count on things like exclusive color schemes and materials, as well as on “Hellephant” badges all around the cabin. Furthermore, we should see a little bit different instrument cluster, while the unique steering wheel also seems possible.
On the other hand, the overall layout should remain the same. This will still be a four-door sedan, which accommodates up to five adult passengers and offers a pretty generous cargo area. As we are talking about the most expensive Charger ever built, we have no doubt that the list of standard features will be very long. Although a high-performance car, it should come with all the convenience Charger usually offers, including tech features like a large touchscreen, smartphone integration, wireless charging and all kinds of driver-assistance features.
2023 Dodge Ghoul Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Dodge Ghoul will be launched by the end of this year. From what we know so far, it will come in a very limited series. Most likely, only 100 units will be produced. When it comes to the price, some sources speculate around $200.000.
