2023 Dodge Durango Redesign: Rumors and Expectations

Dodge’s biggest SUV has been updated last year but that doesn’t mean we won’t see big changes in the future. This refresh has only delayed the full redesign. Simply, the current generation has been around since 2011 and certainly needs updates. From what we know so far, the new generation will probably come sometime in the next year, as the 2023 Dodge Durango. It will bring big changes, bigger than you would normally expect from a redesign

The next generation of this SUV will bring big changes and the biggest one will be the platform. The Durango will get back to the body-on-frame platform, reports say. Of course, it will also come with completely new aesthetics and interior designs, as well as with a full load of new features. Finally, we might see some pretty interesting powertrain options in the offer.

2023 Dodge Durango Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Dodge Durango could get back to the fully-framed platform, which characterized previous generations of this SUV. Therefore, it’s quite easy to predict that the new model will have a lot in common with RAM 1500. It will use the same platform and borrow most of the mechanics. What’s intriguing at this moment is the size. The current model is a typical mid-size crossover, while the previous generations were mid-size SUVs. However, we can hear rumors that suggest the new Durango as a full-size SUV, which would share a lot of design solutions with the new Wagoneer.

In any case, the new model would come with the completely new styling. The current model may be updated last year but still shows a lot of aging signs. The new model would come with a completely new design, with the front end probably inspired by RAM truck models. This particularly refers to headlights and grille. On the other hand, the rest of the body would come in a typical SUV layout, without any experiments.

Interior

Naturally, we would also see a completely new interior design with this redesign. This would mean a completely new dashboard design, with more attractive aesthetics, finer materials and better overall build quality. As the new model will ride on a BoF platform, we may see a little bit more rugged dash design, with a lot of inspiration taken from the RAM 1500. This includes loads of tech features as well, including a massive 12.0-inch touchscreen

No matter the final design and size, we expect that the new model will, at least, keep the level of functionality of the outgoing model. This would mean three rows of seats and a large cargo hold behind.

2023 Dodge Durango Engines

Considering that the new 2023 Dodge Durango will probably ride on the same platform as the RAM 1500, we presume that the engine lineup will be pretty similar. Therefore, base versions will probably come with a 3.6-liter Pentastar, equipped with a mild-hybrid eTorque system. We count on the V8 option as well, a 5.7-liter HEMI engine that puts out around 395 horsepower and can also be coupled with the eTorque system.

Of course, there is always a chance to see a hi-performance version. The current model has just arrived in a variant with a 6.2-liter Hellcat engine, so there is no reason why we wouldn’t see something similar from the new model as well. Finally, a plug-in hybrid version could also come one day.

Will this be the new “ Ramcharger “ people are talking about? I hope they will make an off-road version of this truck. Possible TRX model. Ram would score big in this category.
