The whole automotive world is getting toward full electrification and Chrysler sees this as a great opportunity to reestablish its position on the market as one of the leading American brands. The company already presented a concept of a new electric SUV and it is expected that the production version will arrive in less than two years. That model should be called 2024 Chrysler Airflow, just like the concept.
The concept version featured a quite production-ready design, so we presume that the production version won’t look much different, especially in terms of the exterior design and overall approach. When it comes to the interior, things could be slightly different, especially in terms of seating configuration. When it comes to the drivetrain, both single- and dual-motor versions will be offered, while the battery is about to provide a quite respectable range, according to the manufacturer.
2024 Chrysler Airflow Design
The concept version was presented recently. The American carmaker showed a design that incorporates a classic crossover shape and modern aesthetics. However, the concept doesn’t look too futuristic. Moreover, it looks quite production-ready and it could easily be the model that will establish the brand’s new design philosophy, which looks significantly different compared to the current lineup, which includes just a few models, Pacifica and 300.
When it comes to mechanics and base design characteristics, not many things are known. We know for sure that the new model will be a mid-size SUV. We presume it will ride on the STLA platform, which will underpin all-electric cars in the future. This platform will provide compatibility with all kinds of advanced tech features, including Level 3 autonomous driving.
Interior
The interior design of the concept also looked quite production ready. The dashboard features a quite futuristic design with lots of screens but on the other hand, the aesthetics aren’t overly simplistic. Unlike most of today’s electric cars, this model doesn’t feature a bland cabin with a massive screen at the center stack but also tries to incorporate some more dynamic design elements. Also, you can notice lots of screens on the concept, including the passenger’s unit, as well as a couple of them in the second row.
When it comes to seating configuration, the concept came with a four-seat configuration. However, we are pretty sure that the production model will swap the second-row seats for a classic bench and increase the seating capacity to five. Also, the cargo area seemed pretty decent in concept, even though the officials didn’t offer any numbers.
2024 Chrysler Airflow Drivetrain and Battery
The 2024 Chrysler Airflow should come in two configurations regarding the drivetrain. Base models would come with a single 201-hp electric motor, though it’s still unclear whether this model would be an FWD or RWD car. On the other hand, AWD models would get another 201 electric motors, though the company didn’t offer the combined output.
When it comes to the battery, we expect to see a 118-kWh pack, which should offer between 350 and 400 miles of range, which would put this model among class leaders. On the other hand, details about charging speeds are still unknown.
2024 Chrysler Airflow Release Date and Price
Although the officials are still quiet, it is expected that the 2024 Chrysler Airflow will arrive sometime in 2024. At this point, the pricing details are still unknown but most experts suggest that base models would cost around 50.000 dollars. On the other hand, AWD versions would probably cost around 60.000 dollars.
