2020 Ram Rebel TRX: What We Know So Far

The new generation of the legendary Ram truck came last year. It received excellent critics and most experts consider it the best full-size truck at the moment. However, there is still a thing that’s missing. It is a hi-performance version, which should challenge currently-undisputed off-roader Ford F-150 Raptor. At this point, the new model is in the testing phase, so it’s early to talk about precise 2020 Ram Rebel TRX specs.

On the other side, we definitely can talk about more general things, such as mechanical and visual upgrades etc. It is pretty much for sure that the new model will come with significant mechanical upgrades, but also with a pretty distinctive look. Still, the most interesting part of the new model should be a new engine under the hood. Of course, we are thinking of the monstrous Supercharged V8 unit. Details about the price are still unavailable.

Of course, one of the first things that come to mind is the engine. At this point, we are pretty sure that the new version will come with a familiar 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 engine, the same one that powers Challenger Hellcat. At this point, we don’t know the exact 2020 Ram Rebel TRX hp and lb-ft numbers, but we presume they will be very similar to the Challenger Hellcat.

Allegedly, the company has been testing the monstrous 840-hp version as well, but we don’t believe this unit will find it’s place in the serial model. Instead, we count on the slightly less powerful 707-hp versions, which also features 650 pound-feet of torque. We expect that the new engine will come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

This is where we expect a lot from the new 2020 Ram Rebel TRX. At this point, Ram doesn’t have a version that can compete with Raptor in terms of off-road performances. There is the Rebel trim, which comes with various upgrades, but that is still far away from a proficient off-roader. Still, some of the features may carry over to the new TRX. This particularly refers to things like locking differentials and tow hooks.

The new 2020 Ram Rebel TRX will also come with further suspension upgrades, including much higher ground clearances, dual Bilstein shocks etc. We also count on new brakes and various kinds of chassis upgrades.

2020 Ram Rebel TRX Styling

Styling upgrades are another thing we expect to see on the 2020 Ram Rebel TRX. The testing model still wears a camouflage, so we can’t talk about details at this point. Still, we may predict some of the features. We presume that some of the styling solutions will be inspired by the TRX concept from several years ago. Although that concept was based on the previous generation, there’s a lot of parts that may come with a similar approach. This refers to a lot of blacked details, unique grille layout, exclusive color options etc. Of course, we also count on unique wheels, with massive off-road tires and a whole palette of additional details.

Interior changes are also expected. Some of the first things that come to mind are new seats and trims. Additionally, we might see a unique steering wheel and instrument cluster. On the other side, the overall cabin design should look pretty similar to the current model. This particularly refers to the excellent dashboard layout, which looks great, comes with plenty of tech features and offers excellent ergonomics.

2020 Ram Rebel TRX won’t come that soon!?

One of the things that bother us is the 2020 Ram Rebel TRX release date. The new version is on the way. However, it looks like there is still a lot of job to do, so the new model probably won’t be ready before the second half of the year. Therefore, it seems quite likely that the Rebel TRX will actually come as the 2021 model year.

Price

Another thing we should consider is the 2020 Ram Rebel TRX price. At this point, there is no information that comes from officials or reliable sources. Still, if we consider that the Raptor goes around 50.000 dollars, we may expect a similar sum from the Rebel TRX as well. Still, the price tag will probably be a little bit higher, considering that the new model will come with a bigger and much more powerful engine.
